Venue Shopping for our Early Spring 2015 Wedding

Hello Ladies,

So we began the venue shopping with a trip to The Water's Edge in Queens and fell in LOVE with the view, however not so sure we fell in love with the price (for the most part paying for the big day ourselves) So now we have on our list of places to visit The Venetian Yacht Club, Chateau Briand, Russos on the Bay in Queens and Giando on the Water in Brookyln. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences with these places and want to share?

Thanks all

If you are looking for on the water I know the Riviera in Massapequa was reasonable priced.

Thanks I'm surprised they haven't popped up on any of my searches. I just checked out the website, it looks nice, just need to add to the list of places to call and visit.

We live out east so the only one of those places we looked at was Venetian Yacht Club - it was my #1 pick (and I looked at about 15 places all over suffolk county). Its STUNNING!! Good luck =)

Thanks we are actually very excited to go see the Venetian. The woman we spoke with could have sold me on her personality and our conversation alone. We are trying to keep an open mind and see multiple places so we don't make an uninformed decision.

I actually live right by Russo's on the Bay. They have been around for years and are definitely a reputable catering hall. They do a beautiful wedding and I've never heard any complaints but I think they are on the pricer side. Also if the hall being on the water is the biggest appeal for you guys, I would check your other places first. It is in fact on the bay but it may not be exactly what your envisioning in terms of the water view. It's a residentail area so the view is essentially the back of people's houses, their docks, boats etc. (Not to mention many of these homes were hard hit by Hurricane Sandy. Just some things to consider from a local :)

Thanks for the advice... We are trying to make sure that the view is not our most deciding factor but just an added bonus as we don't want to choose a place based on the view and then have crappy weather and miss out having the view. That make sense???

Totally get it! And like I said, they are very reputable so if you liked them, I dont think you'd be disappointed.

Also FYI-Russo's openened a new sister hall down the block called Vetro and I've heard good things. That might be something else to look into.

Thatched Cottage is on the water and only does 1 wedding at a time (biased!). Other water venues I can think of is Bridgeview Yacht Club and the Lombardi's venues.

crashing! just wanted to say, I was looking for a waterfront venue when I started my search. Our top faves were Land's End, Bridgeview Yacht Club, and Chateau La Mer. We also checked out Riviera, Venetian Yacht Club, and Crescent Beach Club. I've heard great things about Lombardis on the bay and sound but didnt check them out do to the distance for our guests.
