Does anyone know if this works? FH called verizon to see if his blackberry will work on the HM and they said no... But a few people have told me it will. Hmmm- anyone know for sure? Primarily in Rome & Florence for the HM... TIA!

Re: Verizon cell phone in Italy
My boss went to Italy this past week. He has Verizon, so he called them up and they gave him a gloabl phone. You get the phone sent to your house, it costs $2.99/min to make calls from italy to the us. Your Fh can have his number transfered to that phone for the time he is there. When you get back you box up the phone and return it. It's that easy.
You either have to get the global phone OR You can buy a prepaid there and whenever you need more minutes you just go & get prepaid cards. It's really easy. that's what we do when we're there. It's cheaper than the global phone, plus if ppl call you it's free.

Re: Verizon cell phone in Italy
I used my razor in italy! I called T mobile and they just had to turn on the international feature with my account. I would call verizon again b/c i am sure a black berry would work. I just had to hold down the 1 (to get a + before the number) and i was able to dial out. I got phone calls too! It's not cheap though. Another suggestion would be for like $40 you can get an international phone. I know my travel agent tried to sell me this and the calls are so cheap to make. My parents bought one for my brother when he was abroad. FM me if you have any questions!!!

The blackerry works in Italy. He just has to change his plan for the period he goes there (international feature)and they will pro-rate his plan. When he gets back he just switches back to his original plan

It can definitely be done. My brother has done it when he traveled to Italy - his # was the same too.

Thanks everyone! Seems as if we can either turn on the international feature for the time we are there... or get a pre paid phone when we arrive. Will have FH do some research. I want to have one just in case.....
