FH was just on the MAC that he gave me when he got his new one, and the adapter started catching on fire!!!!!!! If he had not been right there our entire apartment prolly would have gone up in flames! And he called and they said they won't replace it cus its no longer under warrenty and its $80 for a new one!!!!! How insane! And Im so angry now at all the overpriced ipods and computers FH and I have. I almost want to return all of them. ANd FH looked it up online that thousands of other people have had the same problem and there are people who have actually had their computers blow up from using the same adapter and they have never issued a recall! Im so angry! And FH is going there now to have them turn the computer off of sleep mode cus he can't do it with the old adapter or else itll catch on fire again! Ugh!!!!!!!!

oh my gosh!!! i don't have a mac but i have a sony vaio and it gets SOOO hot.. i could only imagine it going on fire. thank god you were there.. that would've been horrible!

That is the scariest thing I have ever heard!!! I had my computer adapter on my bed and felt how hot it was yesterday....now hearing this im scared!! Especially since Im always leaving my laptop on 'hibernate'...Im gonna start turning this thing off and unplugging it.

honestly, I dont know- it is the one that came with it- its about a 3 year old laptop- its one of the widescreen silver ones. Im so bad with this stuff!! We now have one of the newer laptops (well FH does and I was supposed to get the old one) and supposedly it doesn't happen with them.

I had a problem with my MAC book charger... every time I plugged it into the socket it would sizzle and spark...I brought the adapter back to them and they replaced it for me but that is scary!! thank God you were right there and it didn't get out of hand... I would write a letter to complain about it.. that is nuts!! And to not replace it!!! Did you go to the Apple store...when I brought mine in they replaced it right there for free. Good luck!

Fh said this adapter is his 4th one cus the others sparked too and/or broke. And now his warrenty is up and they said they won't replace it for free anymore and a new one is $80!! I want to write a letter, but I doubt they will care cus if they did, they would have recalled them and made ones that don't catch on fire.
