Hi Carline,
I am not having my wedding there, but did hear some negatives about my hall. I actually printed out all the negative reviews and am going to discuss the problems with my banquet manager. Maybe you should do the same thing. Also do a search for CB on LIW's. You can get more info that way.
Good luck!

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

Call your banquet manager NOW and let them know about your concerns. - There are always a few people who have something negative to say about EVERY wedding, but the dirty bathroom and bad service would be a huge concern of mine as well. - See how the BM responds, and if you get a bad vibe from him you'll be uncomfortable w/ the whole thing.......If he's good to you about the the situation, you may feel more comfortable w/ you decision.
Good Luck !

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

Hi there,

Please don't be discouraged...if you think this is the place for you and your wedding, you have to stick to your gut...this is simply just my opinion.

I hope this helps you:

I have attended many weddings/other parties there and I think overall, CB is a nice place. The decor is beautiful if you like that 'cruise ship' look. I went to a wedding there just a couple months ago.

What I don't neccessarilly like about it is I think it has a 'wedding factory' feel to it. This kind of goes along with what your friend said about waiters being rude and bathrooms being dirty. They simply have a lot of parties going on at once, and sometimes cannot be as attentive as another place could be.

Also, I am very into food. So is the rest of my family. I must say not everyone was impressed with the food. At the recent wedding, ours was cold, specifically the filet mignon which was barely cooked through. Again, this is just my opinion.

I am very close to the person who just had their wedding there and she was not happy with the way everything turned out. I know she said something to her BM, but I am not sure if they refunded her anything.

Again, if you are happy with them thus far, and you have been there for a wedding yourself and have seen good things, stick to it. Everyone's opinion and needs are different.
I wish you the best of luck!!

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

I went to a wedding at Chateau, and had the best time. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the bathrooms were clean. I have a feeling that your MOH just happened to have one of those once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just because she had negative reviews, doesn't mean that every wedding they have there experience the same negatives.

I completely understand your concern, and would advise that you speak to your banquet manager about it. However, CB has a good reputation, and I've only heard complaints about the day-of coordinator.

ETA: GOOD LUCK!

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

I went to a wedding there two summers ago. I was in the wedding, so it's hard to remember a lot because I was all over the place that day. I remember the staff being really nice to us (the bridal party) when we were taking pictures they kept bringing just drinks and food and everything.

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

I heard some concerns about my hall too. My Mom and I drove immediately there and spoke to the owner. He looked into everything and got back to me in 2 days. He told yes this happened and no this didn't happen. The thing that did happen, there was a very good reason for it that the person who told me about neglected to tell me. He promised me that everything would be perfect on their end on my wedding day and it was!!!

I think someone will always have something bad to same about one place or another. Everyone has different tastes or opinions that is what makes the world go round.

Definitely address it will your BM and anything that you want to make sure they do, make sure they note it on your contract, and then have faith in them CB has a great reputation!

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

My cousin had her wedding there many summers ago. It was 100 degrees and the building lost power. There were no lights, no airconditioning, no food, etc. The bride cried all night. I was so surprised they didin't have backup generators. I don't believe there was a citywide blackout or anything at that time, they must have just blown their own stuyff with the AC b/c of the heat. I would just tell your concerns to your BM and hopefully they will be able to make you feel better, if they aren't, then you know you have to keep looking

I was in a wedding there years ago...I had a good time. Don't remember anything negative about it. I think once you start planning your own wedding, little things stand out to you and you observe more at other people's weddings.

Here is what I wrote in my review of my 6/12/04 wedding:

The CB was so very good to us. Throughout the planning process, they granted our every request and accommodated everything we wanted. The food was unbelievable. The DaVinci room (and outdoor garden) was gorgeous. The staff was super attentive. The Viennese tables were overwhelming. The Krispy Kremes, bagels, and coffee on the way out was so unique. People have been calling my parents nonstop to rave about the wedding, saying they have never been to anything like it in their lives. We don't have a single complaint.

Re-reading your post - I will add that nobody told me the waiters or bartenders were rude or that the bathrooms were dirty. Prior to my wedding I was at 3 other events there (2 weddings and a fundraiser) and I didn't have a single bad experience.

You have to remember that all catering halls are going to have some negative reviews. Nowhere will you find a place where EVERY waiter on EVERY night is just wonderful. It's not possible. I have been to other halls which people on this site RAVE about, and I personally found some of them to have AWFUL food and service. So it's just a case of, you can't please everyone.

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

I'm having my wedding there on Sunday, and I've been to a wedding there. My FH had his Bar Mitzvah there, and I went to a Bat Mitzvah there AGES ago. I am very confident in everything I've seen so far, and I'm even in the final stages of crazy!

But I'll post quickly on Monday to let you know, okay?

if you have any questions you can feel free to fm me i was married there in jan and you can also read my review. the bathrooms were clean when i had my wedding there and the bartenders made out like bandits with tips and most of my guests still remember there names. the waitstaff was wonderful and so were my bridal attendants. the food was excellent from what i was told i didnt really eat much. the is always a banquet manager on duty so if you have trouble the night of they correct the problem right away. i wouldnt worry

Re: VERY CONCERNED BRIDE

I've been to too many wedding to remember...including several at Chateau Briand. One...the service left a lot to be desired...but then again the couple was on a very tight budget. The other (also on a budget) was awesome...and very memorable. Then again, my friend had a mom that took NOTHING for granted. She stayed on top of the caterers and all the vendors like nobody's business. If you know someone like this...bring them with you at all times. This is way too emotional for the bride. I don't even have a date yet and am 'freaking' out about my perfect dream day. Too bad I lost touch with this friend and her mom...she would have come in handy. Nothing is perfect...but get help from someone who knows the biz and can make sure you get what you pay for....planners (if you don't have any 'pushy' friends or relatives) are a good investment (so I'm told). I'm currently looking into a few myself. I'll be glad to share the info if you're interested.
