Very down....

Very down....

Hi ladies,.

FH and I have been hall hunting, and we can't afford anything. We have a large guest list...(250), no we can't cut it, cuz most of it's family....so, his parents said that they would pay for their guests, which would be about 60 people, FH and I have about 100, (including their guests), the rest is my parents.....we 've made the guest list as small as possible, been working on it for days...we've crunched all the numbers, and I am soo depressed, because every hall has been out of our price range...I'm just venting....I'd prefer to have a fall wedding, but I don't think it will happen at this point!!! Thanks for listening!

FM aliaspook, she's been helping me out with prices and negotiating.

Don't get upset though. 2010 is still 2 years away, you never know what can happen between now and then.

what kind of hall are you looking for? do you have a lot of speifics in a hall that you ar elooking for?

can you have an afternoon wedding? that would save some money. perhaps look into changing your date? halls do amazing deals for winter weddings and they can be just as beuatiful as fall weddings

Hey, dont worry, Im having 300 guests and its all family but luckily we have 2 years to save. Also, theres soo many halls you can look at and Im sure you'll find one you love. maybe you can work on not putting so many add ons to your menu or do a day wedding. Don't get too stressed all ready. Its you and your FH time to get even close during this time, Im sure you'll find a place you can manage.

i agree with everyone else, also another this is to maybe look into a thursday wedding. they're becoming more and more popular. it is hard though and i totally understand because when you're looking at all the things that have to be incorporated aside from the RH, it can get majorly overwhelming. I've had to make a few adjustments myself in order to accomodate things. what places have u looked at? i'm sure all of us on here would be more than willing to help brainstorm with you.

when FH and I sat down and discussed the wedding, we decided that for us we really only wanted to invite people that we see on a regular basis. If I havent seen you in a year and we don't keep in touch, then you don't need to be at my wedding. And as for our parents, if they had friends they wanted to invite, they have to pay for them. I'm not paying for people that I dont know or don't talk to. I've always told my parents that when they are paying for something they make the rules, but when im paying for something I make the rules.

And just because your guest list is 200 plus..doesnt mean that every person is going to come.

Why not have a destination wedding? You and FH and immediate family.

If you can't pull that off, there are brides on LIW that have had their receptions at local Knights of Columbus halls...Oceanside, Seaford, Bellmore are a few. The places looked very nice, they were affordable and most importantly, the girls seemed very happy with how everything turned out.

Good Luck!!!!

Don't worry it will work out. I would look into some Knights of Columbus or maybe some houses where you bring in all your own stuff. Like there is this mansion in Setauket for rent but you bring in all your own stuff so that might work.
