Hi!!! So my mom and I have started talking about flowers for my reception and neither of us has ANY idea whatsoever of what it will cost. Seriously we are clueless...we could walk in and tell them what we want and they could give us a price triple what it should be and we would have no idea lol.
Can anyone give me an estimate of what what it should cost. I know its different for everyone based upon what you get so I will try to give a basic description of what we want. We will have 20-24 tables that will need a centerpiece and we want something tall with a ball shape of flowers on top.
Sorry if this is too general...I just dont want to be taken for a ride b/c I am so clueless about it. Thanks!!

Re: Very General Flower Question
Some florists charge you by the type of flower you want, while others don't. Because you want a tall centerpiece, they will charge you to rent the vase, plus the flowers. I had a similiar idea in mind and was quote $220 by three florists. Not the exact same price, but in the $200-220 range.
Some girls, alternate high and low centerpieces per table to eliminate such high costs.
Here are a few good, reasonable florists:
B*(u)rtons - They don't charge by the flower. Great pricing
Hidden Essence - More expensive than the above one, but really really sweet and can work with you.
Designs by Rose - excellent work. She is certified in floral designs, and keeps you under your budget. Mom & Daughter team!
Flower Barn - really nice, and budget friendly as well.
Hope that helps!

Re: Very General Flower Question
I will have the same amount table-wise as you but am doing alternating tables of high and low centerpieces to eliminate some of the cost. I also have a large BP so the cost of personal flowers also increases.
We looked at 3 different places so far and received quotes for flowers at $225/centerpiece (including crystals and candles), $250/centerpiece (including crystals and candles) and $325/centerpiece + $65 per table for candles.
My advice to you is shop around... We're still looking since we received quotes ranging from $6,000 - 11,000. IMO, these are ridiculous.

Re: Very General Flower Question
You can get high centerpieces for $100-$150. They may not have crystals hanging or anything crazy, but a basic high floral doesn't have to be over $200.
I have heard that B u r t o n s is good, not 100% sure about prices.
Are you on a tight budget or are you just asking to know?
I know of 2 florists in Suffolk county that will charge reasonable prices. If you have the $$ though, your choices expand so much.
I love your venue, the INN at NHP. That place is so beautiful!

Hidden Essence quoted me lower than B*rtons. Your best bet is to meet with a few -- see who you like best and who gives you the best quote!
Exactly this! Even though you may not have a clear vision of what you want yet, its also important to go with the floral designer that understands what you want as well. Good luck!!

Re: Very General Flower Question
I suggest designs by rose as well. I am having all low/tall centerpieces in a tight ball. No green. Plus candles and petals on the table. She gave me the second lowest quote!

Re: Very General Flower Question
the price varies depending on who you go to and what type of flowers you want. I went with a local florist which generally tend to be more reasonable with their flowers prices. I am paying $95 for each of my high center pieces but I didn't choose a flower. I told her the colors I wanted and to fill in with what is in season. My flowers totaled just under $2000 for 15 tables, 8 BoK, 14 bouts, 4 corsages.
