He's gloating, Bedda, because Yankee fans haven't had anything to get excited about in awhile.

Did it occur to you during your thoughts about bandwagon fandom, Rich, that maybe we don't want to talk about it?

I'd like to see you go through lots of disappointment and then want to talk about it.

Oh wait, I just have to go over to the Mets board for that.

(Sorry, normally I wouldn't team bash, but I feel that since the ball was served, I'd return it for once.)

Re: Very quiet in yankee land

At least with the mets we know we are going to be disappointied but when the precious, overpayed and overated yankees are disappointing it's more of a shock...the most overpayed team should be in 1st place by now....you know the saying 'money doesn't buy love'???...well guess what it doesn't buy championships either...

I try not to team bash either but sometimes people deserve it, people like that is...oh and by the way we won 2 out of 3 this weekend and kicked yankee a$$

have a nice day.....

Bedda,

You're responding to something posted TWO WEEKS AGO.

TWO WEEKS AGO. More than that, really. If I had posted this this morning after the painfully embarrassing weekend we had, *then* I could see you looking like less of a moron in responding the way you did.

Don't you think we *know* that our team has a high payroll? Don't you think we *know* that Steinbrenner has bought a large amount of players?

How much control do you honestly think the average Yankee fan has over that? Hmmm? I have said on here 8,000,000,000 times that I have been a Yankee fan since the age of 2, WHEN THEY S*CKED!!! In fact, the Yankees S*CKED UNTIL I WAS SIXTEEN!!!!!! Do you *honestly* think that I, or any other Yankee fan, will stop rooting for a team because the payroll is too high? I'd like to remind you that the Mets don't spend all that much less on their payroll, and neither do the Red Sox. And trust me, if they had the fan support and keen business sense Steinbrenner has, they'd spend more.

How long have you been a Mets fan, eh? As long as you've been a Steelers fan? Since July of 2003? Or was it March of 2002?

Re: my post, I was responding to an especially annoying remark by DJPill, posted SPECIFICALLY to antagonize Yankee Fans ON THE YANKEE BOARD. So I snapped back, as was my right. I'll remind you that I *still* don't see any Yankee fans going over to the Mets board to antagonize you. And as for LIF, well they put us all on the one board so we'll just have to deal. But like I said when LIF first opened, the Mets fans couldn't stay off the Yankees board in the first place, so there really wasn't any difference.

This is the most intelligent response I've ever seen. Seriously.

Just, Wow.

Happybride, you're right, except there aren't good or bad teams, there are just teams and LOVE of those teams.

I'm So Sick of seeing people bash others for love of another team. I have friends who are Sox fans and we were supportive of one another last October.

Re: Very quiet in yankee land

First of all you called me a moron first so I was only responding to your intelligent comment.

As for how long i've been a Mets fan...none of your business. It's a free country I can be a fan anytime I want. If I woke up tomorrow and decided that I loved basketball then so be it, I didn't know being a fan required years of experience. We are not applying for a job.

How long have you been a yankee fan? since babe ruth was with them???

Actually, it was the context of the insult that made it intelligent, dear. Context is what's said in addition to a statement. The reason I implied that your response was anything less than Ivy League level was because you responded to NONE of the points brought up and resorted to nothing more than 'I'm Rubber, You're Glue.'

Being a fan requires no more than love of a team, Bedda, but decorum and manners require backing up your statements with a bit of substance, which (as the thread bumped on the Mets board supports) you never use.

As to my tenure as a Yankee fan, I told you how long I've been a fan in my original post (which I'm quite certain you didn't read regardless of the fact you reposted it twice). I have been a fan since I was consiously able to be one. 1982, if you're really curious about the year. Although I said the team s*cked until I was 16, so that would, in my opinion, be enough information to infer my year of birth (1980). My reasoning for making this statement is that you, like many Mets fans, automatically assume that I am no more than a bandwagon fan who roots for her team because they win.

Regarding your little quip about Babe Ruth, that's amazingly amusing. You're joking that I'm old? That's funny. Hilarious, really. No, dear, I'm barely 25, and even if I were around in the days of Babe Ruth, I'd be quite comfortable with my age. Obviously, age scares you. So sorry.

You still didn't answer any of my original questions though. Do you really think that George Steinbrenner calls the Yankee fans and asks them if they think he should spend millions more than necessary on a player? Do you really think that the fans have ANY SAY in this being 'The best team money can buy'? Don't you think we realize that the money we've spent supporting the Yankees is currently not going to good use? I would certainly think that Mets fans would understand this, as they have one of the highest payrolls in baseball as well. Money *doesn't* buy happiness or championships - whoever said they did? And honestly, the Yanks have 26 championships under their belts. If we lose for a few years it's no big thing.

I'm the *first* person to admit that this weekend was painfully embarrasing for the Yankees. But money has absolutely nothing to do with it.

My ORIGINAL post on this thread was because Rich was dishing it out (a joke, which btw, you were incapable of getting). He should then be able to take some back. None of it was intended to be insulting to you, until you started insulting me.

Dish it out, Take it. Enjoy the Rugrats movie.
