I am considering cutting down our guest list from 60 to 30 and giving just our family & close friends full-out VIP treatment. I like the idea of having a small, private room in a mansion and letting our guests order whatever they want from the menu--Big, formal dance floor not necessary. I am considering Woodlands, The Carltun, Nico's at The Gatsby Mansion and Douglaston Manor.
Has anyone had a party in any of the smaller party rooms in any of these places? The Woodlands said it was doable def for day and possibly at night if there is no other wedding going on at the time. Can anyone recommend any other locations? Ideally, I'd like evening and $100 pp or less.

Re: Very small and intimate wedding...
My min is 50 and we may have 45-55 guests actually showing up, but I did visit Douglaston Manor and was shown their room that holds 40-70 people. I dont know if they will guarantee 30 min. I had trouble locating RH's that would accomodate groups of 50 people or less, and among those on my list were -Douglaston Manor -Swan Club -Sans Souci - George Washington Manor -Coral House
With that said, I did not like Douglaston Manor's small room. It is on the top floor and the window overlooks the golf course (or was it the parking lot, now I can't recall?). It had low ceilings (I hate low ceilings!) and a very small corner for the DJ/Band. Overall, I just did not like the layout. They quoted me a price of $75/pp.

Was this the Terrace room (I believe it is called) with the orange walls? It looks nice in pics and I thought it had a cathedral ceiling (I don't like low ceilings either).
I had called the manager and he said that the Grand Room would would be available to us with 50 people. It looks beautiful but probably too large for the small, intimate wedding I have in mind. Did he offer this room to you as an option as well?
I'm not very interested in places that primarily serve as catering halls for wedding...mainly because they won't accomodate my small party. I was thinking more along the lines of an upscale restaurant or a catering hall that has a restaurant on-site like Carltun on the Park, The Woodlands, The Gatsby Mansion and someone had mentioned Carlyle on the Green's Oak Room recently.

Re: Very small and intimate wedding...
did you try the Riviera? Their room is pretty small and it sooo beautiful there and the food is great. That was one of my choices, but went with the douglaston manor because we are having 150 guests. The Riviera is small and intimate. The BM , Michelle is a total doll too. I'm not sure of their min, but it's worth checking out!

I think its a different room. The orange'ish' wall room and the upstairs room are different.
