I need a a way to tell vendors that I've decided to go with someone else? I haven't had any problems with any vendors and all have been great so far, but I can book them all - is there something specific you tell them as to why you are not choosing them or just a 'I decided to go with someone else' and leave it at that?
Any input would be great - thanks!

Just like that...It's very direct....end of conversation. I can only imagine the PITA ones asking 'and can you tell me WHY you selected them'

I've had to say 'we already have a ____' a million times by now, and they usually just congratulate you and that's it.

Remember it's your day...your way! Besides it's your money. I am a softie and I hate to hurt anyone's feelings or to reject anyone.............. but I gotta do what makes me happy and I can't worry about anyone else in this case!!!

Re: Very stupid question but...
Thanks everyone. I was talking more so of vendors that I have contacted, and not so much ones that solicitate me, as I have it down as well to tell them I already booked someone. I guess for instance would be my makeup trials I went to, I can only pick one and I have one in mind, but it doesn't mean the other did a bad job, just I feel more comfortable with the other. I don't want to string them along either, as they are waiting to hear back and I don't want them holding the date any longer.

I wouldnt call them to tel them. You can be sure that they will call you shortly. And when they call to see what is going on I would tell them then. Thats what I've been doing.

Their not going to take this personal. YOu just tell them that you found someone else that has exactly what you are looking for. They'll understand. Your one of a thousand brides they deal with. They won't take it personal, its just business.

Worked for me too, and I haven't heard from a vendor in a couple of months. Generally it calms down if you stop going to expos.

Re: Very stupid question but...
remember it's business and you're not the first bride that decided to go with someone else and not them.
they will not and should not get offended. they are in a very competitive business and they know that better than anyone else.
good luck!

I usually say something like, 'Thanks so much for your time. I really appreciate it. However I have decided to go with someone else.' Most vendors have been very polite after I say this.

I didn't call the vendors I decided not to use. Honestly, I don't have time for that. We saw a lot of different vendors for everything, and if I started calling all of them it would take up a lot of time. No one is holding the date without a deposit. I am sure if they don't hear back from you, they have figured out you are not using them.

Re: Very stupid question but...
Yeah, I think I would just let them know that you've gone with someone else.
I really haven't had this issue I don't think. I've had a couple of vendors 'see' on the website that I had gone with someone else and that wasn't pretty. But overall, I never asked anyone to hold anything unless I was serious with them.
I would be very direct and say thanks for your time, but I've gone with someone else and that you wish them the best of luck in the future.

Would you believe that I've had several ask me who did I book with and how much did they charge me ? Very rude and make me glad that I did not choose them!
