so i blocked 25 rooms at the viana for the wedding thinking it was way more than enough considering most of our family lives local... wellllll we are still 4 months out, no invites have been sent out yet, and 23 ROOMS have been booked!!!!!! I called the Viana to try to add more, and they only have 6 left, so we have 31 total with 23 booked... I'm freaking out because we are sending invites out in march with the hotel info on it, and all the rooms might be gone before we even send them
We contacted our last 3 or 4 friends to book because the rest already have, so at least we have a good group for the 'after party' but I sort of feel bad for any family that wanted a room.. i guess they will just have to look elsewhere?

Take a deep breath. I think you did a great job by getting 25 rooms blocked to begin with, and now you have done the courtesy of reserving as many as you possibly can for your guests. You're doing a great job. Try to keep it in perspective that its not possible to control everything. If you have a wedding website, you could suggest alternate hotels on there.

You could try and do another hotel block. I know people who have 2 hotel blocks to begin with so people have an option. Also, like KTF said, you can always suggest hotels in the area. Good for you getting 23 rooms booked!

You can always do 2 blocks. However, I would call and speak with a manager at the Viana (Erin Herlihy is awesome). The staff there, while very nice, seem to confuse easily. They did some strange things with my block there and were somewhat disorganized. Just keep in mind that 2 blocks means 2 shuttles!

I can do another block, but invites were already printed with the one hotel on them (i made the invites a few months ago)

if you do a second block you can always just put an extra insert in the envelope saying if the original hotel block is taken here is another option

The hotel is gorgeous I loved it. I especially loved the bar and game room area behind it for all of us to hangout at after the wedding. Definitely worth checking out!

I made my own pocketfolds a few months back and assembled them all just recently with the bellybands around them and it would be such a pain to undo it all and put the inserts in- it definitely can be done but i'm just lazy and those invites were sooo time consuming to make that I honestly don't even want to look at them anymore LOL- I can't wait to throw them in the mailbox.
I think i'm just going to put a list of other hotel options on our website. We now have 28 of 31 rooms booked because I called all of our friends and had them book now so that we had the group we wanted staying there. My aunts/uncles/younger cousins don't have to stay at our hotel since they all usually drive to the weddings and don't use the shuttle anyway. I just really wanted to make sure our friends and older cousins who were going to drink got their rooms.
