Video Dilemma

Video Dilemma

So I have a dilemma on my hands....

I was on Craigslist (I love all the free/cheap stuff you can find there), and I stumbled upon this ad for an offer for 'free HD/Blu Ray DVD with cinematography style.' Long story short, he was out of business for a few years and he's looking to expand his portfolio - he does our wedding for free, we give him rights to the video to use in marketing. Mind you, we have Duet booked for photo and video, so I don't need a video guy....BUT, I really, really, really wanted one of those Pennylane-like videos.

I spoke to FH and he was like give the guy a call, what's the harm. He seems like the real deal, he even said he wants to meet with us to show us he's a real person and all. But now, FH is now saying that since we already have video, maybe the two guys will get in the way and we should just forget this other one.

I'm so confused.....what would you do???

if the guy is working for free....itl be fun to have 2 videos...just tell your other videographer...its a family friend that is looking to get into the business

I would not do it. Its one thing to have 2 photographers, but to then have 2 video guys may be too many people trying to get the same. Shots. The free guy may not be respectful of the one you are paying because let's face it, its free- he is in it for himself. If you had no video and this was opportunity to get one for free then I would say go for it.

I agree. I think they would be getting in each others' way and potentially cause problems on your day.

I have 3 cameras. Yes they are from the same company, but still. I would let them worry about it. To avoid conflict, I would ask Duet if this is ok.

If the guy doing it for free is disrespectful, you send him packing.

I would def meet with him

That's a tough one. Refer him to a bride who doesn't have video because of budget but would really like one. It would help them out and you wouldn't want to cause any kind of confrontation!
