I always view these amazing 'trailers' or 'recaps' on vimeo. Do the wedding videos look the same with all of the special effects or is it just the recap that has all of the effects in it?

It's alot of mini recaps within, except for vows and special dances, cake cutting etc...i almost didnt get video and last minute i knew i needed it...I used gt modern creations and I loved them so much I used them for my wedding last year and then used them for my church ceremony this year... They caught moments I would have otherwise missed :)
I think it depends if you get an edited video or unedited video. A lot of people told me to AT LEAST get an unedited video. Then you can always go back or to someone else and get your raw footage edited. I'm doing this to save some money leading up to the wedding, but one of my groomsmen is actually in school for film and offered to edit it for free.
