I don't think is an average. I found the price range to be extreme, depending how much or how little you want. Photographers that offer the video tend to discount the video costs. I am looking to pay around 1300. I would say a low end range is 1100-2000.

Avg. when I priced them was $2,000 to $3,500.

Really? I would also like to look into a videographer, but want a really basic video, I was looking to spend around $500 or so, does anyone know of anyone who has packages that low???

Honestly, I don't think you will find it for that price unless you use a private guy. If you FM I will tell you one company to avoid. They will give you the video at around 700 with a catch. I would watch the people in that price range. Most won't be insured. (all my vendors need insurance). I wanted a very basic video and cared more for the photo, but I am finding that I need to spend over 1k for it.

Most of the videography places that I got prices for had their most simple package at around $1000 (and usually more) for both the ceremony and reception. If you only want one or the other, you can probably get it for a bit less.
If you're looking for something cheaper, you might want to contact a local university and ask if any students can do it.
