Videographer & Photographer together

Are there any advantages to doing the photography and videography with the same company? I think we have pretty much decided on our photographer but we are debating whether or not to keep looking for a videographer. The video seemed a little cheesy. Does anyone have any thoughts? Or recommendations for videographers? Is it worthwhile to just keep looking for one company that does both?

We are going with Duet. they do both and it just came in a package. DIdn't really think of advantages or disadvantages but i guess they have worked together so they won't get in each others way

its up to you really, if you like the video that your photography company does then go for it. But i wouldnt go for it if you dont like their video though. Ive seen many ppl on here go with same company and also alot of other ppl use 2 different companies, thats what i did too. My photographer is an independent photojournalistic photographer so she doesnt do video, so i had no choice but even if i did have the choice i still would've probably gone with a different videographer. The video i used was a company that does strictly video.

you just have to do whatever you feel is best. Dont pick a videographer you think is cheesy and not crazy about just to make it easier and not have to search for an additional vendor. You still have to pay for video and you should be happy for something you are paying for and it will be your wedding video so you want to make sure you are happy with it

I did Imagine Studios- they're a husband and wife team that seem to have a really good flow with each other. I've been to weddings where the photo and video person don't necessarily agree on staging and step on each other's toes. The last thing you want is for them the be in each other's way. IMHO, I think its better when the photo and video ppl are at least comfortable working with each other and know each other's style so there's no hostility or problems the day of

im still in the process of looking but i want them to be together for 2 reasons:

1) id rather deal with one less vendor
2) i heard that video/photo team usually compliment each other's work, whereas if they are separate they might compete for the best angles etc and not work as well together

as far as working together it depends. For photo I used angelica glass and well she works on her own so if you use her you have to go to an outside vendor for video. BUT she did ask me if i had decided on video and when i told her pennylane she did say phew so glad to hear, she said she liked him alot and they had worked together quite a few times and got along and worked well together. Adam from pennylane also had asked me what photographer i was using and you can tell on their faces they are just waiting to see who it is lol but once i said angelica he also was glad about it and said the same thing that they both had worked together a couple of times.

So it depends, yes im sure in some situations that they dont work well together but in other situations depending on who you use, they have worked with others in the industry many times. If you use any independent photojournalistic photographers for example, then you HAVE to get outside video but these photographers have worked with others alot such as angelica glass, blue daisy, something in blue, henry chan and many other big photographers you see on here
