Videographer suggestions.... about to start the search.

I am just about to start searching for all of my vendors and for some reason, I didn't think the videographer part of it was going to be so expensive. I've been reading some posts and see it's more than I thought it would be.

So, before I start making calls, are there any videographers that you can recommend?

Thanks so much.

I used T&T Video in Smithtown and loved them! Their website is www.wedding-videos.com and Hal is the owner and great to deal with! :) I'm actually going to see (pick up?) my vide on Sunday and I can't wait!!!!!

I was recently married and used Multimedia video. They are pretty inexpensive. I should be getting my video back real soon, so check back and I'll let you know how it turned out! A friend of mine used them and her video was great!

I recommend Wild Rose very highly. Their packages start at about $1400. The quality of the sound and film is great. Plus dealing with Marie and Bill is super easy and really nice. They are very responsive to my questions and e-mails.

Some stuff to look for during your search:
-What type of lighting do they use? With today's equipment there is no need for those spot lights anymore. Plus they distract your guests.
-Sound quality- can you hear the couple saying their vows? If not, why bother paying for a video. What sound equipment do they use? A lapel mic on the groom is the best way to go.
-How many copies of the tape or DVD do you get? Edited or raw footage? Is music added? When do they arrive and leave? What if time runs over, are you charged extra? Is there an assistant (you have to feed the video vendor so an extra person will cost you at the reception too).
-Are you meeting with your camera person or the owner of the business? You will want to meet the person who will be spending all of those hours with you.

I hope the info helps.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Michele31, thanks for all the info, it was very helpful. I will keep all of that in mind when searching for a videographer. I have heard only good things about Wild Rose so they will be one of the videographers I check out. Thanks again for all the help.

Based on recommendations from my photography, other brides, and my own opinion when seeing the video, I chose:
