Videographer - Travel Expenses

I met with a videographer which I really like .. he is city based and claimed that all travel expenses outside of NYC will have to reimbursed by client.. We are going to be a multiple location the day of... should i just find another videographer? i dont want to pay more for anything with this wedding

I understand his reasoning for that but if you can avoid those extra fees that would be great.

Keep looking and see what you can find

Could you get him to just give you a set price for travel based on what youre planning to do? My city vendors had a travel expense too, but if you just factor it in before hand and it still fits in your budget I dont think its so bad. Or you might be able to get him to negotiate it...(that seems to be the first thing they drop). If you can't get a definitive number though maybe you should just keep looking.

I would say try to find someone in LI since your getting married here. See if anyones eles work can compare to his work before you spend the extra money

I ask him and he just say .. whatever it cost, you have to reimburse me.. I like his work, not I dont like his attitude... def didnt feel comfortable during our meeting.

if you didnt like his attitude get rid of him! he is going to be in your face all day, you have to really like him. He should not be charging traveling expenses as long as he is within the 5 boroughs or westchester. GET A NEW GUY

ITA - if he has a bad attitude when he is tryin to BOOK a job, just imagine what he will be like once he has it!! find someone who is going to be willing to do everything to add to your day without adding to his bill

You just answered your own question -- if you are not comfortable then don't book the vendor.

On a side note -- it is standard practice for a vendor to charge travel expenses when traveling over a certain mile radius from their home base.

Just so you know it should be .50 per mile (that includes mileage, gas -- does not always include parking and tolls if applicable).

Most will charge round trip from the furthest point if you are going to mulitple locations in one day.
