video/photo

while i couldn't sleep last night i was thinking about the video & photos. although i would love to get both $1,500 is a lot to spend on the video alone. besides how many times am i actually going to watch it? i think that photos only would be a better idea. i love looking at pictures & i think pictures can tell the whole story.

what does everyone else think??
what are you doing??

I am doing both. I really wanted the video, because the video will capture moments that you end up missing out of because you were busy off doing something else. Or it will capture moments that you don't fully remember. I think the video is great way to keep looking back at the things that went on that day and you get a more real feeling of the day. I just don't want to miss out on seeing everything

I thought about not doing video and then realized i would regret it. The wedding cost so much...I want a video to remember alot of the moments that couldnt be captured in pictures

i felt the same way, until i saw my friend's video. It was amazing and I think i watched it three times. I still didn't book the video because i'm trying to persuade fh that we need one, he's not budging. If anything we will have a friend do it.

i would do both. i got a video/photo package from duet for $4000 including 2 photographers and one videographer. i wasnt looking for a guy to shoot an oscar winning movie....just a nice, tasteful video that documented my wedding.

ITA with you Teri. I would love to look back and see what i missed and re-live the moment! I figure i am paying so much for the wedding anyway, the cost of the video is worth it.

while I know i'm going to love my pictures, I know I will bringing out the video every so often as well to relive the moments. I'm the type of person that still loves to watch home videos of xmas and birthdays from 10 years ago. even if you get an amature to do the video, i think it's better than nothing at all. at first I was going to have an amature do the videography for my wedding but then I just decided to have my photography company do it as well. ultimately the choice is up to you, but really think about it. hth!

Re: video/photo

there are things you miss the day of and its such a blur and goes by so fast. Let me tell you that now that its all over, i cant wait to see my video. I do have my pics but at the same time you are not exactly reliving the day. I love my pics but i look at it differently too. Like i see pics of me and dh histerically laughing during BIL's speech, now when i see the pic i think 'wow we were laughing alot' but with video we will get to hear the speech again and hear those exact words spoken and be able to actually live in that moment again. Looking at pics, i cant remember everything that BIL said.

Also when i was up at that altar, it felt like an out of body experience and went by so fast. I cant wait to see video to hear us exchanging vows, hear him saying the words to me again. I have pics from it but when you look at pics you look at different things, i see the pics and i look at how both of us look, how the pics themselves look and think 'oh this is a nice pic' you dont feel the emotions though the same way as you would seeing the video. Plus as the bride, i never saw my parents walking down the aisle, IL's, my bridal party walking down, even with entrances at RH, i didnt get to see any of the entrances will be nice to see it. I do have a 4 minute trailer of my video and in the video i got to see a little bit of when DH was getting ready, i loved seeing that.

After the wedding like i said, most brides say its a blur, you will be happy when you see your pics dont get me wrong but the further away it is the further it starts to feel and while you have a moment caught on pics its a bit different than seeing the WHOLE video and not just seeing a glimpse of a moment but seeing the entire thing as it happened. Now that my wedding is feeling so far away, all i want to do is see my video.

Also remember that nowadays, you dont just get a 2 hour video of uncut raw footage. But for example i will get 4 dvd's. The full day but also shorter videos, such as highlights, trailers that are about 3-10 mins long. Ive seen my 4 minute trailer dozens and dozens of times,

even from e-party i have video, and yes i have pics too but its different to watch as you are dancing on the dance floor. To hear the speeches and seeing things you didnt see for yourself.

most of all i cant wait until we have kids to show them. For them to hear us exchaning vows will be different than seeing pics of it. And for them to really be part of the day in a way to see everything as it happened. I wish i had video of my parents wedding, i have pics but its different

also there would've been moments i missed, i dont have pics of my mom crying during my ceremony, bc they were taking pics of us up there. Until i saw this trailer, i had no idea she was crying, seeing the moment really touches me. Here is my trailer

I agree. You miss so many fun things that happen that day and the pictures and video capture it all. Also I love watching videos with my grandparents who have now passed away. Hearing there voices brings back so much. I know eventually people in the video will pass and I want the memory of them to live on.

I'm doing both. My brother's wedding video came out great and we must have watched it 5 times, cracking up each time. It's probably the only thing that I'm going to remember from that day.

whatever you get is your decisions there are some brides here not sure if on the 2010 board but they are just doing photography. I personally like the idea of having both. I know pictures could tell a whole story I love pictures myself but I would love to posses that video so that I can one day show it to my children and if i'm still alive to my grandchildren!!! it would be really cool. But this is totally your decision!!! good luck

Re: video/photo

I was only going to go with the photos, but my mother said she would help out with the video.

She told me it's not something I want to opt out on cause of money because it will capture memories that we can show our children (yeah right) one day.

And like someone said before, you might see some things you might have missed because you're off doing the bride & groom thing.

i thought the same thing.. also in the grand scheme of things (the cost of the entire wedding) 1500 isnt really that much and it is something that you will have for the rest of you lives and childrens lives and grandchildrens lives.

Re: video/photo

we booked video/photog for $4400
(not including an album, we'll decide on that later on...and not including an extra photographer which we will probably pay the 995 for)
it includes 10 hours coverage including the brides home...about 700 proof pictures which we will be given...we will receive 3 dvds which will include baby pictures and honeymoon pictures...we think we spent a little too much on the video (2225) we probably could have got a better deal but it's too late now!....so with the album and extra photograper we will end up spending about 7K...***** cuz i'm sure we could have done better (i heard duet has great prices) but it's all good
