I am really interested to check this place out because so many have raved about it. My FH has a lot of chefs in his family so the food has to be excellent!
I went to Marina Del Rey yesterday and really liked it as well. Here's what they offer:
Saturday Night - August 2006: $125 pp + $10 seafood bar @ CH + $10 Viennese.
I felt that this was slightly steep looking at waht others are paying for a Saturday night, but I haven't looked at a ton of places. (Only Terrace on The Park, Jericho Terrace, Caffe on the Green, Grand Prospect Hall, Russo's, Villa Barone, Milleridge).
The pluses are: *Great view of the bridges with outdoor terrace *Newly renovated *Ice Sculptures/Caviar included in CH plus Ice sculpture with Viennese *Table menus provided *Premium liquors/frozen drinks at open bar *Selection of 8 entrees *Great CH selections esp. for Greek/Italian wedding * 1 1/2 hour CH for total reception time of 6 1/2 hours
Is this similar to what Villa Lombardi offers?
I also went to Russo's today and was quoted more for less options/less reception time.
Any input you girls can give me would be awesome.
Where is Villa Lombardi located? What exit off LIE?
Thanks!!!!!!!

Re: Villa Lombardi.....
i have never been to marina del rey but my sister just went and she likes it alot. Villa lombardi was one of my top choices when i was trying to choose a reception hall. Their menu is huge, they offer seven entrees for dinner. The reason i liked it is b/c they offer so many options for food, which is great for an italian/greek wedding. The guests won't be disappointed. I went there for a showcase and i thought the food was great. However, i think that all reception hall food in general is not as great as food you would get individually served at a restaurant. The good thing is that their cocktail hour food is so extensive, and you cannot really go wrong with CH food. I also think that it is very pretty there, it has a mansiony type feeling with the outdoors but it is very nicely decorated. For a saturday night in june i was quoted $114 and that was including the vienese hour (+ tip and tax). (this was after a bit of negotiating). The only negative in my mind was that it is kinda far away i think it is exit 61 on the LIE, however it is all an easy highway ride, and it is right off the highway as soon as you get off the exit so no one will get lost. From Astoria Queens i would say an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes away. Definitely try to go see it before you choose.
Good luck :)

Re: Villa Lombardi.....
The downside of Villa Lombardis is that there is no view. it is located across the street from a middle school and there is a funeral home next door to one side and Mama Lombardis to the other. The back of the hall faces Patchogue-Holbrook road. From what I understand the food is supposed to be good, but I dont eat at Lombardi restauraunts for personal reasons. Nothing against people who do go there though...its very nice inside. If you are looking for scenery then dont go to Lombardis cause there isnt much, but you can get it made up in other ways. Good Luck

Re: Villa Lombardi.....
I have been to weddings at both Marina Del Ray and Villa Lombardis. Both places have excellent food. We actually went to check out marina del rey but we also felt that it was out of our budget. We are also planning a saturday wedding. Not sure where you live but I personally thought Villa Lombardis is way too far for most people in Queens and the early portion of nassau county. And I also felt service was better at Marina Del rey. JMO Nevertheless I dont think you can go wrong with either place. Good luck!

Re: Villa Lombardi.....
I never went to Marina del Ray so I can not comment on them. Of course I LOVE Villa's because I chose it to have my wedding. Villa's was not even on my list to check out when I was searching for halls. But I kept hearing my friend and my mom saying just go and take a look. So I did and fell in LOVE. I have heard nothing but great things about them especially their cocktail hour. Everytime I tell someone where I am having my wedding they always are like, 'Wow, they have such great food and their cocktail hour is unbelievable.' I also was looking for good service and I have spoken with past Brides of Villa's and said they are fantastic. Yes there prices are a bit high but I felt that it was worth it. I am having my reception on a Friday night because Sat was alot more. Plus I am having the Vienesse hr. I am very excited to have my wedding at Villa's. Just to let you know Villa's has Port Jefferson CC, which is Lombardi on the Sound. It's right off the water. But it is further out than Villa Lombardi's. Oh by the way most all of FH's relatives live in Nassau. But if they jump on LIE exit 61 it is pretty direct. Good Luck!!!
