villa lombardi brides - place cards

Hi ladies. Has anyone asked the staff at Villa Lombardi's about using tealights for place cards?

I ask because I mentioned this at Giorgios and George Jr. said that he allows votive place cards but wants the holder to be higher than the candle i.e., tealights in a votive holder.

Just a thought............

From my understanding, the guests are not allowed to carry ANYTHING lit, no matter how tall.

Re: villa lombardi brides - place cards

I just had a fight with my hall today about them. And I honestly dont know if it is worth all the effort and aggravation to even do them. I am sorry I am not a Villa bride but I just wanted to share my imput.
I spoke to 3 different banquet mgrs and it was written in all my papper work that the place cards where votive candle holders and when FH dropped them off at the hall today they told him they were unable to light them due to libality reasons. I had to fight on the phone with the operations mgr stating that 3 different people didnt say anything about it and I wouldnt have spent the TIME/ money or energy to make them and would have used their place cards that were free instead of spending the TIME making these.
We came to a conclusion that they are going to only light the candles in a U shape so that the ladys don't burn their dresses, or set their hair on fire or any of the other stupid excuses they came up with.

Just think about it before spending the time and $$ on it. I think they are begining to be more of a hassle than anything else.
Sorry to burst ur bubble

I can imagine there is some type of liability if a candle place card drops but they allow candles - what's the difference? I suppose the guest carrying it for a few yards?

Light them in a U shape? What?!?!

I'm sorry you are going through this. That is why it is something I ask about at all the halls. I have budgeted for them and think they are pretty so if I make them after being told we can use them (and light them) someone is giving me back my money!!!! NOt to mention the time and effort to print them, cut the vellum and glue all of them.

You must be pissed!!!!!

FYI - Your wedding day is my dad's 55th birthday.

Hi...I haven't really pursued the votive placecards after hearing they weren't allowed. I guess a lot of guests get tipsy after the cocktail hour and have dropped them on the ground in the past. I think the issue is carrying them from the cocktail hour room to the tables.....
I'm not too upset over it, it just gives me an excuse to think of something else original and creative....

I think I obessed about having them once I realized they were not allowed at a lot of halls. Not really sure why though.

However, now that I know we are having an afternoon wedding, then cocktail hour and reception once the sun goes down, I must have the votive place cards. I think they will light up the room beautifully.

The U shape is just so no one gets burnt by having them on the outside edge of the table. If you do decide to do them I have a whole bunch of extra candles that I bought they are speical candle from a resturant wholesaler and they are a little bigger than tea lights and smaller than votives but they dont get the glass hot. My parents have been burning one for 8 hrs now and the glass is barely warm to the touch.

That sounds great. tea lights typically burn for only 5 hours. I planned to get mine from cudge.net 100 tea lights for like $9.

Are there additives or is it just because the candle is slightly bigger that it burns for 8 hours?
