Villa Lombardi's or Crest Hollow

Hi girls!

I need help...as a newcomer to the Boards (I just got engaged in April! ) I know from my FSIL that advice from everyone one the boards is 'priceless.' Here's my dilemma:

1. Villa Lombardi and Crest Hollow same price but food selection including cocktail hour selections are far better at VL.
2. Better pictures places and totally outdoor cocktail hour at CH~although VL has some nice ones and cocktail hour can be in and out.
3.BM at CH is almost unbearable...at VL a doll! The CH BM keepssaying we'll do well by you..then says the room determiniation isn't made until the week before the affair...but I'll put in a good word with operations...but I'm not sure I trust him...but I love the grounds...and I hear the food is good...
4.Travel time is better to CH.

I really fell in love with CH outside...and now I'm thiking if it rains...plus the beautiful VL cocktail hour...

I have to make decision soon...what do you think? Looking at wedding in September....

Thanks for your help...

Re: Villa Lombardi's or Crest Hollow

i'm a CH bride... but from what u'r saying it sounds liek VL is a better deal for u... if the bm isn't fabulous then ask for a different one or go somewhere else.. my bm gave me the room i wanted.. no determinatino the week before... i was able to get them to give me 4 entrees on the menu or veneitian trays.. my choice.. (i really wanted 4 entree choices.. can't explain why thatw as soo important to me though..the venetian trays are starting to sound better now..) i have 12 chafing dishes which includes 2 carvings.. and apparently a martini bar if i register at fortunoff.. still not sure what that is.. lol..

i loved the room, loved the bm.. loved eveything bout the place..

but i will tell u like the ladies told me.. GO WITH YOUR GUT!!!

What rooms are you using?

Have you checked out Lombardi's on the sound at the port jefferson country club? That is where I am getting married. You can have the same lombardi's food and service, but be on the water and take pictures on the beach, since it sounds like that is what you feel is missing at VL.

Oh, and the CH is inside, but the room has windows all around that look out onto the water and there are glass doors that go out to the patio so guests can eat out there if the weather is nice.

I have been to weddings at both and really you can't go wrong either way. I thought both places did a nice job with the weddings and the food was good at both.

If I had to choose, I would pick Villa Lombardi's only b/c you get way more food there then you do at most reception halls, so I feel that you are getting a lot for your money there. Their cocktail hour is unbelievable and you get 11 choices for dinner or something right? I would go that route.

I've been to weddings at both places, and both were nice. Although the food at CH was decent, I think Villa Lombardi's was much better. The outdoor gardens at CH were beautiful, yes but Villa Lombardi's is gorgeous indoors and you never know what the weather may be. I don't think either would be a poor choice, but Villa Lombardi's would get my vote. Good luck!

been to weddings at both (plus my prom was at VL ) and I prefer Villa to CH... I think the food is better at VL-although still very good at CH-the cocktail hour was HUGE at VL...

i'd also look at which one is closest to u'r ceremony.. a long drive can be tiring for the guests..

Villa Lombardi- gotta love the Scotto Brothers!

I picked Crest Hollow b/c I am a Crest Hollow bride. I liked Villa Lombardi's but I personally don't like reception halls that are right on the street. I like how Crest hollow is set back. Also, I grew up right around VL and honestly, never really liked mama lombardis and when I went to a wedding at VL I personally didn't love it!
Also, my BM who I booked w/ I didn't love either so I changed!

Re: Villa Lombardi's or Crest Hollow

Honestly, I agree with the previous poster. I guarantee the food at VL is spectacular...but the back of the hall backs up to the highway, which kinda bothers me...

Depends what you want....if food is your #1 priority, I say go with VL, if its the space/atmosphere (outside pics, etc), I'd do CH....

ETA: I agree with someone else who said to check out Lombardis on the sound....we almost booked there! Its beautiful!

I've been to both and they are both great halls. I liked the food better at VL. Your BM plays an important part in your day also. If you love everything at CH except your BM, can you ask for someone else? As for the pictures, do you have time between the ceremony & reception to go to another location? The ride to VL is a little further than CH, but anyone who wants to be there, will drive the distance.

Did you guys decide yet?

Re: Villa Lombardi's or Crest Hollow

Thanks to all of you who have posted ... we are still in the process of deciding...the point about travel is well taken... VL adds about half hour more for travel and some guests are coming from Staten Island/New Jersey.

The BM at CH is turning us off...thanks for the advice about asking for another, particularly Sharon! That may be the way to go!

Food, atmosphere and outdoor cocktail hour are important...the VL cocktail hour is so very beuatiful in good weather or in bad...not like CH.

As you can see, we still lhaven't decided....

Thanks for all your help....

Personally I would pick Villa Lomabardi's, but food was so important to us. It depends what is most important to you. I second looking at Lombardi's on the Sound, amazing food, good price and a gorgeous view of the water! We loved it there and almost booked with them.
