Macari Wines. They have a beautiful tasting room and a gorgeous patio. Lots of people bring food and picnic there.

I did this for my bachelorette party. We started at Pindar, moved onto Bedell, another one and ended in Martha Clara. By the time we got to martha Clara I couldn't differientiate white from red!

We rented a limo for the day and had food & drinks in the limo (cheese, crackers, wraps, chips, etc, etc ...) so we didn't picnic but a lot of the places have picnic areas. You should choose a vineyard to start with and pick 3 or 4 you want to go to and see if any have picnic facilities.

You're going to have such a fun time! In terms of which ones to go to, definitely check out Raphael though it's been closed a lot for private functions (you girls need to stop getting married there so I can have a drink!). Pugliese is beautiful and they have a large selection (also where I got engaged, so I'm biased) but they have a cute gourmet store as well so you can take something home with you. I'm personally not a fan of the wines at Pindar, but it's definitely a fun place to go.

In terms of restaurants, there's a place on 25 called Fauna with great food. Pricey, but not awful. If you want NYC quality food (and prices to boot), go to Greenport and eat at Frisky Oyster. There's even a carousel set up a few blocks away though I'm not sure if it's running. There are some bars near there as well. Have fun

OK, I'm clueless...how does it work? Can you just go to the different vineyards and taste wine? How much is it?

FM is fine. Thanks girls!

You walk in and they usually have a list they work off of - of like 5-10 wines. They give you a small glass of wine and then you move down the list - you don;t have to drink all the wines on the list, you can say no to some :)
Some vineyards are free (Pindar) and some cost a small amount (Bedell was $5 per person)

That is so great to know! When I call, do I ask for the 'tastings'? And then I'm guessing there'll be a schedule and fees, if any, right? I'm getting so excited!

Re: vineyard bachlorette party

You can search online and most of the vineyards websites will pull up the hours of operation and fees if any.

Or you can call and ask them.

There is a few websites for LI Wineries that will map out the a ton of them (google LI & Winery) - choose a few you are interested in and look up their websites or call for info. If you aren't picky I'm sure you can pick all free ones
