When did you schedule your food tasting? Was it during the week or the weekend? How far in advance did you book it prior to the wedding?

Cin -We did ours about 2 months before. Ours was a sat during the day. I know that might not help you much since our venues are different. They wanted us to keep it closer to the wedding b/c different things were in season bfr we made our final choice.

I haven't done mine yet, but from what I understand, they request that you have your testing on a Sunday before a wedding takes place. Hope that helps!

I'm really looking forward to it! Although I'm curious whether we do the cake tasting and selection at the same time?

They do the tastings on the same day as another wedding. We did our tasting about a month before the wedding. They did it on Saturday afternoon because they were having a wedding later that day. There was another bride there the same day, who is getting married in November. I also saw 2 other brides there for their tasting on my wedding day. They LOAD you up with food- hot and cold items from the CH, and the filet mignon.

As for the cake, you do not taste it there. Create-a-cake in Port Jeff makes the cake. You can either bring Vineyard Caterers a pic of what you want, and they will pass it on to them, or you can go to Create-a-cake and look through their picture book of cakes they make (that's what we did). We chose the filling with Vineyard Caterers, and they passed it on to the cake place. We finalized everything the same day as the tasting because we were only a month out.

Do we book a cake tasting to decide on the flavor? How far in advance should we be doing all this?

No, there was no set kind of cake. We were literally told to bring in a pic of what we want and it will be done.

We didn't do a cake tasting because I'm familiar with the bakery, and it wasn't offered to us either. You may want to directly contact Create-a-cake and see if you can arrange something.
