I have a great opportunity to get a really great deal on vinyl laminate wood (looking)flooring.
Has anyone used vinyl?
We are hoping that the wood floor under the carpets are in good shape. If not I want to put in a wood floor.

I guess I don't understand your post. Would you put in the vinyl if the wood is not in good condition???

I would say that you are probably better off restoring the current wood floors if they are not in good condition. Also, I would think you are better off using real wood and not vinyl. It would definitely increase the value of the house. I just had a wood floor installed (today) and finished in my Florida room. They charged me $12 a square foot.

Re: Vinyl flooring?
i agree that you should restore the wood flooring you already have it may not cost you that much and it looks so much better. if you cant keep the floor you have i would do wood plank before i would do laminate. you can get a lower grade wood plank for the same cost of a hi grade laminate and the wood would still look better.

I agree with the others, see what the estimate would be to repair/refinish the wood floors underneath. You can always do room by room if you're on a budget.
The facility I work at put down the vinyl wood flooring and I'm not a fan of it at all.
