I don't even know if people do this... but I would just like one violinist to play at my ceremony. It is at the East Williston Community Church, and will only be about 20-30 min.
Has anyone used a single violinist?
Thanks...

Re: Violinist wanted for Ceremony only
check out Encore music her prices were the best and they have sorts of combinations
I've been wondering the same thing. You may want to ask your church if they have someone that they use. I posted requests on Vendors Helping Brides. No one offered a single person.

perhaps craigslist would help?
this might be too much legwork, but you could go to the music department at cw post, adelphi, and/or queens college and see if any of their violinists perform on the side?
i went to a wedding once where they had hired a quartet from a high school to play for them...

Re: Violinist wanted for Ceremony only
Hi... I have a simliar question... and a possible answer. I have been looking at this group... Art Strings - they seem very good and I am getting ready to post a message to see if anyone out there has used them and knows of them. I hate to rely upon the internet research I've been doing alone and would love some real time references!
Can anyone assist??!!

I actually looked into this a little. I got a quote for $300 from Capriccio Ensemble. Single violinist.
I'm also waiting for a phone number from another LIW Bride who used a girl from Craigslist. I believe she paid $300 for 3 1/2 hrs which is great. I'll let you know.

The only thing is, I only need them to play for 30 minutes or so... I'm thinking a high school or college kid would be the way to go...
Anyone have any luck on craigslist? I
think I remember someone saying that they hired a girl from a Julliard, but I can't find the post...

For Art Strings? Not terrible I guess from what I've been seeing. I'm looking at a string quartet, which is at the high end of all of this. Its 750 for an hour for all 4 of them. They will do rates for 1, 2, 3 or 4 musicians which I can't remember off the top (sorry!) but they were reasonable. Check them out online - they guy is very nice and will get back to you quickly.

You could put up signs or call the music departments at local colleges. it would be really close for someone at hofstra, adelphi or post

Re: Violinist wanted for Ceremony only
I spoke to Anne Marie today at Ensemble Champlain, they are vendors on here, and she quoted me $650 for 2 musicians for 2 hours or $850 for 3 musicians for 2 hours. I am having a full Mass and wanted music playing as guests arrived, during the ceremony, and as guests exit. Since you need them for a shorter time, maybe she'll give you a discount. I'm not sure what her minimum is. She was very nice to talk to and very helpful. Give them a call or shoot them an email.

I'm using a violinist through my church (someone the organist knows) and am paying $125.
