Vioxx Recall

This was on Goodmorning America this morning. I just wanted to make sure evryone saw this.

I was horrified because my doctor prescribed this for an enflamed muscle I had recently.

Merck Withdraws Arthritis Drug Vioxx

TRENTON, N.J. Sept. 30, 2004

Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. is pulling its blockbuster arthritis drug Vioxx from the market worldwide because new data from a clinical trial found an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
Whitehouse Station-based Merck said Thursday that data from the trial showed the increased risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular complications began 18 months after patients started taking Vioxx.

Thanks for posting!! I have been on it for a year now and I was just diagnosed with a heat valve leak. Now I have to speak to my doctor.

Yikes! Vioxx really worked well, but now I'm glad I don't take it anymore!

HOLY Crap!!

I lived off that stuff for nearly a YEAR!

They were going to resubscribe it to me at my next visit, guess not.

I think that's what I took breifly, for Bursitis, it didn't do much for me, probably because I didn'' have arthrisits.

My doc put me on it last week. Did any of you get calls from your docs? Shouldn't they make sure to tell us???!!!??
