VIP Brides

I'm getting a little scared with my decision. I've heard some negative things lately. First, I heard that John doesn't necessarily show up on your wedding day? IS THAT TRUE??? He never told us that that could happen so what is going ono with that??

Second, I didn't get it in writting, but what kind of film does he use? It's photographers' film right??

Should I call him to make sure that I get his name on my contract?

Hi Olgaki-

From what I have heard, VIP Studios has become more popular, so John has started contracting out some jobs. Maybe he only does this during busy weekends - I am not sure.

I would definitely recommend calling him to determine if he will in fact, be your photographer.

Good luck

Re: VIP Brides

He can be your main photographer if that was negotiated before the contract and he writes it in your contract. He has had so much more business that if he has two weddings booked, obviously he can't physically be at both places. We made sure to have him write it in the contract that he was our main photographer. How many people have you heard this from? I called him yesterday and left a message to just get a heads up on everything.

As far as the film umm what do you mean? I thought film was film. The only difference is brand names? I am no expert in photography so I may not understand what you are asking.

I didn't even know there was a possibility that he wouldn't be the main photographer. So I didn't think to bring it up. I just called him and told him we'd like him as head photographer so we'll see what happens. The number I called I got off the contract and didn't have the same message as before - it sounded like him but didn't mention VIP. I hope it's the right number!

When we contracted with him, we had him put down that he would be the main photographer.

As for the film, he primarily uses 35mm film color and Black and White if you want. We did specifically contract for him to use medium format film for certain times. I don't quite know what medium format film is to explain (my husband researched this) but I know it's higher quality and more expensive film and creates square pictures rather than retangular pictures like regular 35mm film and it produces better quality enlargement photos.

We didn't know who our second photographer was prior to the day of, but in looking at my proofs, the pictures taken by the second photographer was just a good as John's.

Good luck.

RE: VIP Brides

I used VIP and while John is a bit scatterbrained sometimes I liked his work and that was what was important to me. Like you all mentioned, he has made me nervous at times with his very laid back personality. He is not so good at returning phone calls promptly, but I've learned he eventually gets around to it. I definately think his business has taken off tremendously and he needs an office manager of some sort to field calls, take messages, etc. But all in all I was very happy with my proofs and his prices. Haven't gotten my album back yet, but I'm confident it will be great.

Obviously you must be comfortable with his level of service and his product. So do what you feel best. Remember, in the end the pictures are what matters the most and if you like his work then go for it.
