Visited a few RH's

Okay...I was overwhelmed and I thank you ladies so much for giving me recommendations . .We are NOT hiring a professional videographer or photographer they are all too expensive f. We are just going to purchase a very nice professional camera and have a friend who is creative to take pics all night and video, so this way we will always have the camera and also get nice pics at the same time.So far We visited, CLM, Westbury manor, Fox Hollow, Riviera, Brentwood CC, West sayville CC,captain bills, the riverview, snapper inn, majestic gardens, flowerfields and the pine hollow inn..If anyone has any questions please feel free to fm me. ..I have three more that i want to see...Larkfield manor, tall grass CC, and the watermill. Then I think im done.

So far number one is Timberpoint Country Club.

I have prices for all the above places for the Off seasons...I will post for everyone to see soon. If you need to know now please feel free to fm me!

Oooh Larkfield Manor was so pretty you're going to like that one alot (at least I think you will). The other 2 that you haven't visited yet I've never actually been to. What are your thoughts on the RH's you've seen so far? What are your top choices?

In case you are still considering hireing a photographer....for the amount of buying a proffesional camera, you can hire a photography student or a photographer just starting off. they will usually just give you all the images they took on a DVD. You may get some of the most amazing pictures because they are fresh out of school and not molded or into the routine of the 'typical' wedding photographer.

It is a great alternative and you don't have to worry about asking someone to do it for you. I have seen postings on Craigs List for 500$ for the whole day! You can also contact schools in the area, and see if anyone may be interested. I would start on Craigs List and search wedding photographer in the services section in both NYC and Long Island. HTH and good luck!

here are a few that i found:

Have you thought about hiring a prof. just to take the photos and then you can make the albums yourself on shutterfly? The quality of the photos will be different. I feel as if the photography is an important aspect of your memories of the day.

I agree, we liked Timber Point, but didn't like how close the golfers would get to the party, but we loved Larkfield. And the staff and management there are so friendly and personable.

I want to give my 2 cents...

Even if you go with the least inexpensive pacakage for photo/video i think its the most important thing to have on your day. You will always have your professional pictures after the wedding is over.

Have you tried the catering halls that have package deals? Also Wedding World in Commack and The Wedding Plaza in Floral Park offer packages at pretty decent prices. Including DJ, photo/video, flowers etc. Some halls offer the same thing.

Re: Visited a few RH's

Before i saw the post suggesting you hire a photography student I wanted to suggest the same thing. The reason why is because you have no idea how your pics will turn out with just a friend taking the pics, you want to have some great pics at least to always remember, and with a friend you never know how the pics will turn out...plus they are a guest and are going to want to eat, enjoy themselves, dance, so you have alot of moments that should be photographed but wont be. It just won't be the same...Many students will GLADLY do this for you, believe it or not there are some that will even do this for free if it helps them out to show this as experience on their resume.

ALso like others suggested, you can get a less expensive photographer and just get the pics on a dvd and do them yourself on shutterfly

Re: Visited a few RH's

My sister hired a photography student for her wedding photos and sadly she said this was the biggest mistake of her wedding. She is so dissappointed she didnt find ways to save elsewhere. This is just one person's oppinion and I don't want to change your mind if you are already confident in you decision. I just thought this information may be helpful.
