Visiting venues

Hello,

We are going to visit two venues this Saturday (Waterview Club & Old Field Club). I have a pretty comprehensive list of questions, but is there anything else we should pay attention aside from our general 'vibe' of the place?

I've heard only raves about OFC and cannot find anything on the Waterview Club, I'm not sure if that worries me or not.

Well yes the 'vibe' you get is very important and the if you get that 'this is our place feeling'...you said you have a pretty good list of standard questions so you should be set but one thing I like to pay attention to the wait staff, valet, receptionists and or just extra personnel besides the banquet managers. I feel its a good indicator of how the staff will be and how professional the waitstaff will be at your wedding. If they let their valet or whoever act unprofessional just because an event isnt going on, you can bet that they will not be used to being on good behavior for your wedding. It would be a shame to have a beautiful wedding and one of your guests is upset because the valet was rude or the greeter was goofing of when they come in.

Also, really pay attention to and try to read the Banquet Manager that you are meeting with. Try and figure out if they are being car salesmenish or not- they can generally be fairly easy to read. Although 1 or 2 has certainly thrown me for a loop.

whip your list out in front of them... let them know you are taking notes, they won't try to get over. Get everything in writing, take pictures... they understand you are shopping around. Also...visit the bathrooms. Check them out and take pics. Don't sign on your first visit... sleep on it.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
