OK - I am still deciding about where to get married - I can't wait till its done so i can start the fun stuff. A few places are in the running - one of which is VM at Dowling. I really like setting adn the room but... we are inviting about 180 and I'm worried it will be cramped. My mom's friends are fine if we put additional tables in the room across the way (the cocktail hour room) - but I don't want to feel like the main room is cramped either. I may be able to get the guest list down another 10, but not sure. Any thoughts?

Re: VM - Oakdale
how many peopel does the room hold. Ifyou are inviting 180 then about 20% won't come so about 28 won't come could it hold 152 comfortably, plus you are also getting married on a holiday weekend which might make your 20% a little higher especially if you have out of town guests. Or if you are inviting everyone with a guest that might make your no responses higher.
these are all things to consider with your guest list. I have never been to the VM but someone I know got married there & said it was amazing. if you search the review board she got married july 4th weekend

Re: VM - Oakdale
I am getting married at the Vandebilt Mansion in about two weeks. We invited 180, and have about 135 who responded yes. So it wasn't a problem at all. I was very worried about the size of our wedding too, but they told me at Vanderbilt that the ballroom can fit up to 160 if you put 11 people at each table.
