Vote: Menu Options!

Vote: Menu Options!

So we had our wonderful tasting this weekend and seemed to get through it without wanting to kill either set of our parents, so far so good, hehehe.
The only dilemma we're having is in reference to the seafood options.... I would love to hear what the majority wants, since I'm not a huge seafood person.

Ok, so here's the deal:

Appetizer: Lobster pieces on a bed of cous cous with some mango thingy drizzled on it. Our parents were psyched about this option and the presentation is pretty impressive.

Do you think most people like lobster? Should we not have a seafood appetizer?

Entree: We tried the Halibut (eh, nuttin special) and there are options of Salmon and some fish called Corvina. No clue what it is. There is also a Swordfish option.
Lastly, they had a lobster/shrimp crepe which we all tried and really liked. They would prepare with with a lil risotto as well.

So my question is this, would the lobster/shrimp crepe as an entree choice be a little too lobster overkill with the appetizer?
Do you think guests would prefer an actual fish like swordfish instead???

I'm not a seafood person either, but my FMIL is allergic to shellfish, and many people are, so I would say with the lobster appetizer, I'd choose swordfish so that if someone still wanted the 'fish' option they could have it.

If you're going to have the lobster appetizer then I wouldn't go with the lobster entree as well. IMO that would be overkill. I love seafood, but I'd like a swordfish or salmon entree instead.

HTH!!

I love seafood and especially lobster...maybe ask if there can be a back up choice in case people state their allergies or dislike...They did this for us cause we had a lot of seafood and it worked out well

I say lobster/shrimp crepe. One Seafood appetizer isn't bad.

I love seafood but I wouldn't want to order a lobster/shrimp crepe as an entree. The lobster appetizer sounds great and I would get the swordfish as an entree.

I would say go with the Swordfish. I think two lobster dishes would be too much.

There is an option, if someone is allergic they would be offered a fruit plate or salad.

We went to the food tasting too!! We LOVED the Lobster/Shrimp entree and we are choosing that as an entree choice. We might go with the mushroom phyllo thing for the appetizer. We also loved the Filet. We didn't love the Halibut. We might go with a Chicken dish as the third option - Andy said Chicken Saltimboca. (spelling?)

We liked the mushroom thing too, but thought the same thing - just as many people like lobster that like mushrooms, you know? So hard to choose!
We're choosing the filet and chicken also, we thought they were yummy. What's this chicken Saltimboca???

The crepe sounds delicious but I wouldn't do a seafood appetizer too....some people are not seafood people, maybe a pasta?

I don't know- tough one.
I am doing a shrimp scampi on risotto cake appetizer,
and one of my 3 entree choices is also a fish- but it's chilean sea bass...
I am not sure- crepes are yummy. tough call!
If you don't want to do both, I would keep the crepe, and switch the appetizer.
The phyllo mushroom thing sounds yummy!
BTW- don't worry about people not liking lobster, and missing their appetizer. Odds are, they will hjave PLENTY of food at CH. Plus, it just means an extra appetizer for their date, if they like it!

I just had that lobster/shrimp crepe at a wedding (Lands End) and it was so delicious...by far the best seafood I've had at a wedding and I always get the seafood. Lobster and shrimp chunks were oozing out of it. Go for it. Now your making me hungry.

We are going with the mushroom app....can you do that with the lobster crepe? They are both sooo good! Actually, we aren't even doing any lobster since my fam doesn't think enough people would want it....of course since I'm the bride I get to eat the shrimp & lobster crepe anyway! We didn't have halibut at our tasting...we're going with swordfish, filet and the pork chop....good luck

I love lobster but here's my two cents:

Don't make it the appetizer (I'm assuming guests don't have a choice with that course) because a lot of people are alergic, perhaps - though I don't know your list - kosher, or just don't like it.

But....I would make that lobster/shrimp crepe an entree choice. And I say that because it's just an option and yet, it will likely be popular amongst the seafood eaters.
