I like #1 the best...but to me i would want to consider the quality as well...

I have been looking for area rugs for a long time, but haven't been able to commit to anything .. mostly I've found that the rugs I like are simply way too expensive.

I've checked out a bunch of stores .. and have looked at lots of websites ... what troubles me about websites .. is that I've seen lots that I like, within a reasonable price range .. however I worry about the actual color and the texture. From shopping around at different stores .. I've found so many rugs that the backs are just so stiff and abrasive, and worry, that even with a rug pad, it will damage our hardwood floors. As for the color, different monitors have made the same rug look so much different.

What would happen if you order a rug from a website, and when it came you didn't like the color and/or the texture of the rug??? Shipping something back like that would have to be expensive, no???

Rug sizes that I'd need would both be about 8'x11' or something a bit smaller.

Im not too worried b/c burgundy pretty much is burgundy and I know someone who got a rug from them, plus Denise said she has the same rug/same mfg and she got it from macy... I was going to go to macys to feel it but since its not too big (5x7) and going under a large coffee table I am not too concerned about feeling it

tammy - # 4 is a little darker in person from what I am seeing on the screen but it is very pretty (but I bought it so I hope I like it!). Then again everyone has diff. video cards and monitors so it may look diff. on diff. computers.

Kel - I have spoken to a few of the online rug distributors and the first theing they ask is 'have you seen this rug already'. They have even given me the name of local stores that carry the rug I inquired about.

I havent been able to commit to one either and its driving me crazy. I really wanted it by Thanksgiving to complete my LR.

That would make me feel better - if there was a local store I could actually see what I'm about to purchase. I do a lot of shopping on line .. but something like this, that would be what I'd consider a major purchase .. I hesitate.

Don't worry though .. I understand how you feel about having wanted the rug by Thanksgiving .. but when it comes to decorating (especially the rooms that will receive the most visiting traffic) .. I believe it's important to take your time rather than settle or rush into something.
