Votive Placecard Question...

Votive Placecard Question...

I am sure someone has already asked this question...but I can't seem to find the answer in the search function.

Is it better to use votive holders that already have a candle in it (votive candle, not tealight) OR buy clear votive holders and place a tea light in each.

Thanks girls!!

Re: Votive Placecard Question...

i am not using votives but if i did i would think the ones where candle is attached so you dont have things loose that could fall out in transport or something. i really dont know tho, maybe other girls who are using them wil have insight on why to use tealights.

Right, thats what I thought too. But I read a review where a bride used the tealights because they glowed through the vellum paper, whereas the votive candle needs to burn a little bit before it can start to glow in the middle of the glass.

im using tea lights, imo they dont get as hot as the votives do, and they do glow better

there is cudge.net and save-on-crafts.com.
im probably going to buy the tea lights at bb&b or something, because they have the huge bag of 100 for like 10 bucks or something.

Yup. I've heard tealights b/c they don't get as hot. I'm still not sure if I'm definitely doing this, but if I do, I'm ordering from cudge.net. They have good prices.

The only reason i didnt order from cudge was because im doing table numbers too, and they didnt have what i needed, so i ordered from save on crafts. the prices were similiar, i think cudge may have been a little less, but i honestly dont remember.

I wish I knew when Michael's or AC Moore has them on sale. I think reg. price is like $1.00 per votive.

FH and I did a 'test'...

We made 3 sample votives, vellum and all and we placed 3 different candles in them.

Tealight
Votive
Mini-Votive (like 1/4 size of a regular voitve)
we found them at Michaels.

The tealight looked beautiful, but the glass got hot very quickly.

The votive took too long to burn down to create that 'glow'.

The mini votive is the one we are going with. It didn't get as hot as the tealight and it created the same glow effect.

Just the ones we used for our samples...

I am waiting for them to go on sale, maybe AC Moore or Michaels, not sure where yet.

We did buy the vellum candle wraps at Michaels. I am going to glue a glittery leaf over the platinum heart design so they go with our fall theme a little better.

At the risk of sounding like a moron, what does a mini-votive look like?
