Do you make one placecard per person or per couple?

I've always seen one per couple

Mr. & Mrs.

or if someone is bringing a guest. It would be Mr. John Smith and Guest

If you did individual, the how would you give one to the guest?

I plan on having a seat chart w/the person's name on it, corresponding to a table. On the table in front of each plate, every person will have a votive.

I wondered about this one too, but when I thought back to past weddings where I have been the 'guest' , the place cards were always just in my dates name, not 'and Guest' or in my name.

BTW - I met Laura from LA Productions today and she does the votive placecards. they looked great. If I do them, I'll get them from her to save the aggravation of doing them myself.

couple....most placecards are couples...this is no different. We put Mr and MRS so and so...

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I thought it was supposed to be 1 per couple but then I saw a picture and there was only one name on all the votives. It just got me thinking, but couples it is!
