When I asked the Hamlet if they had a problem with me using the votives as placecards they said no but she brought up a good question. What do your guests do with the lit candle during the CH? Anyone who has or is used theses, what did you do or plan to do?
Thanks.

Re: votive placecards
Well, at my hall the guests don't pick up their escort cards until they are just about to enter the ballroom. The CH is in another room on another floor so it really wouldn't make sense to pick up your place card before the CH. To me, it really doesn't make sense to pick up your card before the CH anyway. Then you have to carry the little card around too. I would ask if they can have your guests pick them up just before they enter, after the CH.

Re: votive placecards
I LOVED my votive placecards.
The guests picked them up after the cocktail hour and went straight to their tables.
I really wanted to do these because FH loved the idea. He thought it was so different and original. Since or CH is in the room leading into the ballroom I will have them place them out right before the CH ends so that way they can stay lit.

Re: votive placecards
For those who did these, I am planning on doing them for my E-Party. I made up a few samples (they turned out great!), and used tealights, however after being lit for about 10 min, they were almost too hot to pick up! Any ideas on ways to prevent this? Thanks!

Really? When we tested them out, they were fin for a while. Alot longer than 10 minutes. Maybe it has to do with the type of votive holders I used?

Re: votive placecards
I bought them at Michaels, the straight cup, no deatiling, no design, no waves. Just like everyone elses pics are showing. I used tealights, do votives make a difference?
My only saving grace is that I will be at the place before everyone else and can time the lighting of the candles.
Any ideas?

That looks so pretty and elegant. One question-how did you get the names and table numbers on them? Did Michael's do that or did you send it to an engraver of some sort? Thanks!

Re: votive placecards
from what i've read, you actually create a template, and then print it on vellum. there are directions on how to make them somewhere on this forum....

Yup, just print them on vellum paper, cut and put on the votive holder. I tried to follow the directions that wwere on this site, but had difficulties. So, I just went into word, spaced it all out and printed. I was able to get 4 on a page!

Re: votive placecards
I did my 'trial' votives tonight and let them sit for awhile and they didn't get hot at all. They were actually very easy to make. Now I just have to wait for a sale at Michaels to buy them all.
