Here's the story in case you don't know. Our wedding was booked for May 22nd 2005 at the Swan Club. In November, I found out that I was expecting, so DH and I decided to have a small intimate ceremony at my Aunt's home in New Jersey. So, we got married on January 15th. We decided to keep our May 22nd date though so the rest of families could celebrate our marriage (We're NOT doing this for money or gifts. I would've rather cancelled or delayed, but a LOT of people would've been disappointed.) We're still going to have a ceremony (at the Swan Club as well), but I'm really not sure how to work it. I still want the BM's and the GM's to participate, so I guess it would begin like a traditional ceremony, but we're going to renew our vows instead of actually getting married again. Does that make sense? Has anybody ever had a vow renewal? If so, how did you go about doing it? TIA!

First congrats on the baby and on getting married I am doing the same thing for other reasons though. We are going to Vegas this June to get married since due to church issues, finances and family we had to move the date twice. We are still planning on getting remarried in church and having the reception at the North Ritz Club. We are just going through the same motions we would've if we weren't going to Vegas. I think it's all how you prefer to go about it. Good Luck with everything

Thank you! I wasn't sure if it would seem strange or not if we ran the ceremony like normal. We were iffy on even keeping the ceremony at all and just having the reception, but our family and friends participating in the ceremony would've been disappointed.

I think this is a great idea! You can certainly renew your vows and have the reception! I think more and more people are doing this for all kinds of reasons. A lot of people also will get married somewhere secluded and private and just have a celebration in their honor at a reception weeks or months later. Just continue planning the way you have been. At least, that's what I think you should do!

Im looking forward to doing both. I love the whole idea of people running off to Vegas. However, I am a princess at heart so I want my day in the spotlight and my photo album, etc. If you want it known that your renewing your vows personalize them and do them a little different but by all means you should feel comfortable doing both. Good Luck with everything.

I think it goes off just as a regular wedding, just without the license hassle! The officiant would know how to word it perfectly!
