in my heart i would love to write my own...or even say the traditional ones.. but as my FH pointed out, i would be a big bawling mess lol!! so we may stick to 'I do.'

We are actually doing both. I just wanted to say the traditional vows but the fiancee wants to write our own - so we compromised :)

My FH wants us to write our own vows so I'm real excited about that.

We just had this discussion. I'm jealous everyone's fh is willing to say own vows. I want to write our own and he doesn't! :( kind of upset about it but hopefully I can talk him into it

we used sample vows that the officiant sent. We were going to write our own but we found ones that spoke to what we wanted to say to one another

Not to worry. You still have some time to change his mind. ;) fingers crossed for you.

You can write your own vows, and to convince your FH's, tell him you're going to use a template. There are a few different wedding vow templates you can find if you google it. I like the Jam Template and you can make it your own, without having to be too creative and it's still personal.
I bookmarked this blog post on weddingbee and I thought their vows were so sweet and they used the Jam Template:
FH wants to just say 'I do' he feels writing our own vows or repeating after the priest will add more stress to the day.
YES he asked me

I want to say my own vows and he is okay with it. I am glad he likes to write now getting through them is a different story.

hopefully the whole repeating thing. I wouldn't be any good at writing my own. I feel like I write the same thing every year in greeting cards to him and I would just be repeating that again at the alter lol.

This this this! We are saying the traditional vows for sure, but at precana we wrote letters to each other to open the day of the wedding and I know I am redoing it because I feel like it is what I say every year. I just feel like I tell him frequently just how much he means to me, but he deserves that magic moment on the wedding day.
I am a fan of the traditional vows because I think there is something powerful about saying the same thing all of the successful marriages have said before you (yes, when I say this to people they remind me of the divorce rate). I dont know, the president takes the same oath when he signs into office..it's almost like a right of passage.

I wanted to speak not just say I do. So we will be saying repeating the traditional vows

We wanted to say our own vows, but we are getting married in a church and they don't allow it. We have no choice but to do the traditional vows. But we are going to exchange cards on the morning of our wedding (don't worry I won't see him before the wedding lol I'll give the card to my brother to hand him) so at least we can say some Things we'd want to say in the vows in the card

Re: vows
In the church, we have to say theirs but you get to choose to repeat after the priest for the longer vows or answer with 'I do.' We are going the 'I do' route.
I'm relieved because I would be a mumbling, blubbery mess lol
