w t f

ok a little back story... my mom and dad got divorced when i was little. they're both remarried now and before my dad married my stepmom my mom and dad got along fine. well my stepmom is a big baby and is nasty to mom and so now my dad is too. since my mom basically raised us and we only saw my dad on weekends and stuff, i want both of my parents to walk me down the aisle.

i told my dad this last night: 'so i've been thinking about it and it would be really cool and would mean a lot to me if both you and mom would walk me down the aisle! what do you think?' so, being the dumbass i am, i thought he would appreciate me asking him to walk me down the aisle and wouldn't mind my mom walking with us since it's only like a 25 foot aisle. his response: 'well isn't it traditionally only the father that walks down the aisle with you?' me: 'yea, but i think it would be nice and would mean a lot to me.' him: 'i'll have to think about it.'

REALLY, DAD? REALLY? What is there to think about? I don't understand how he has to think about it. There's 2 choices - walk down the aisle with me and my mom or don't walk down the aisle with me at all. I'm really upset that 'he has to think about' walking me down the aisle. Grow the f up!

from now on..TELL them what u want.. dont leave anyone an option. some ppls maturity levels cant handle making rational decisions. hes prob going to run it by his wife and shes going to feed him some bshyt and cause drama.

Since you said that your step-mom is a big baby maybe your dad is thinking on how her reaction to this will be. Thats the only thing I cant think of why he would react like that.

I am sorry you are going through this.

Seriously W T F? Does he think he has the option of just walking you down himself if he says no?

I'd say 'Well I wasn't really asking you, I was telling you that I'm gonna have both of you (or just your mom!) walk me down the aisle!' Sorry!

i agree with barb, i would tell him that he is walking u down the aisle with ur mom. when u give people options they always choose the wrong one

Like you said. He can either get over it or not walk you down at all. I hope he comes around

I would say also that it is not uncommon for both parents to walk down the aisle..I have lots of Jewish friends who do this all the time...Also, with the new family dynamics of step families, alterative families, lots of different ways to go about walking down the aisle.. My friend had her father walk her half way down and her mom the other half... They had drama and it worked for them....Another had her step dad walk her with her dad... Go with what you want... Sounds like your mom did a great job raising you and there is nothing wrong with honoring it.

whoa! There should be nothing to think about! You're the bride and he should honor your wishes...especially because you told him that it would mean a lot to you! I hope he gets off his high horse and agrees to it.

Ouch! Sorry, girl - I am sure he is just taken back because he probably thought he would be the only one walking you down the isle.

He'll come around.

I wanted both my parents to walk me down as well and they are both still married and when i told my dad that he was reallllly offended that I wanted my mom to walk with us too. He said the same thing 'isnt it just suppose to be the father'? So of course I felt bad because he felt that was his big moment for the day & my mom was the one doing all the other running around with me for the wedding-- so maybe hes just feeling thats his big moment with you also???
