Let me start off by saying that I am a big Girl I am plus size. I would love to lose weight. Having said that.....

I was watching VH1 tonight and they had this show on called Totally Obsessed and it was about people being Obsessed with something one guy was obsessed with Pac man O.K. Whatever. But then this was this one girl who was Obsessed with Gaining Weight. YES I said that right GAINING WEIGHT! She eats at least 14,000 calories a day so that she can reach her goal weight of 600 pounds. WHO does that? Apparently their is a whole crew of them out there.They even have a website devoted to it.

I actually just read about people who purposely gain a ton of weight so they can be approved to have the gasto bypass surgery. It was sick...a woman who was about 225 purposely added 150 pounds to her frame so she could be heavy enough for the surgery, she just didn't feel like trying to lose it on her own.....

That is so awful. I just wonder what this says about our culture, our eating habits, our lives. I actually saw an episode of 'True Life: I'm obese' on MTV and this kid was basically eating all he could and saying 'Oh, I'll change my habits when I have the surgery'
I just felt so sorry for him, because it is not just the physcal aspect of losing weight that is important, it is the psychology behind why you have done that to yourself in the first place.
I hope these people seek some professional help.

U need to be 100 pounds overweight to have that surgery. If u were 225 im sure u were close to being 100 pounds overweight. I mean for my height I should be 90 pounds, Which I am no where near!

Two of my cousins had the gastric bypass surgery. They had different doctors and did the surgery about a month apart. My one cousin had it done with laser? She has lost over 100lbs and is doing great.

My other cousin had MAJOR complications with hers (it wasnt laser). First they cut her spleen on accident and had to remove it. I am not to sure of all the details but that type of surgery causes major trauma to your insides. She developed Gideons Bar (sp)?. I would compare it to MS. She was in and out of the hospital for 2 years. She is finally doing bette, but they warn that she could have a relapse again (kind of like MS). She has problems walking and In a nut shell almost dies several times.

I would urge people to really think long and hard about this procedure. The torture she went through was not worth it. I think drs are selling this way too much. JMHO and I wanted to share this because it was an example of what can happen.

I saw this on VH1 last night and was trying to explain how SICK it was to DH. I can't believe that her husband is sitting by her and letting her do this and acts like he thinks this is amusing - he is helping dig his wife's grave!!

Yeah I saw her happy in her white bikini..she seems to really like it too...the attention. Its sad but I find her disgusting..not becasue of the weight gain but becasue she would purposely go through this harmful weight gain when so many want to lose the weight and live.

she trying to pull a homer simpson, gain enough weight so he can work from home....this girl makes no sense to me. she will die, plain and simple. i also watched the mtv: true life special and was soooo distrubed by the young boy who thought that surgery was the answer to all his problems. he tought he could have it before graduation and walk the stage a week later, way too immature to be planning a major operation.

I would throw up if I ate more than 3000 I think.

Yeah, that's a LOT of calories. What does she eat tubs of mayonnaise or something?

I just looked at the VH1 website for Totally Obsessed - did you see the tiger guy? OMG he got himself that way by surgery. OK what doctor in his right mind would do that for someone?!?!?!?!?!

Holy Cow! I saw this last night and thought she was a nasty thing!! I weigh a lot more than I would like to and seeing this woman totally freaked me out!! All I kept saying was 'who does this!!!' Doesn't her heart hurt from all the cholesterol she is consuming? The best was the evening shake made with half and half and choclate syrup. She is going to have a stroke. I think her man is just as crazy. I know there are men that don't mind larger women but I never heard of a man who wanted his girl to just keep packing it on!!! He was loving that.
