Shay Clark is getting an early lesson in discrimination. The 14-year-old student has been expelled from her Christian school in Ontario, Calif., because her parents are lesbians. The Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times report that the Leonard Stob, superintendent of the Ontario Christian School, specifically stated in a letter to the girl's biological mother, Tina Clark, that Shay was expelled because 'your family does not meet the policies of admission.' The school policy requires that at least one parent not engage in practices 'immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship.' Apparently, the school just found out that Shay's parents are lesbians after Shay, a cheerleader, was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game. The couple have been together for 22 years and have three daughters. The Clarks will not fight the ruling.

Re: W T F????Girl Expelled Because Parents Are Gay
This was posted on LIF a while ago, but I don't know why the parents would want their child in a school that teaches that their lifestyle is sinful and immoral anyway.

I didn't think of it that way, but that's an excellent point.
I still think it bites that she was expelled, but because they're a private school, they can make their own policies.

The school was probably one of the better schools in their area (I'm only guessing b/c its private versus public). I have to say that I sure wouldn't choose that for my kids, theoretical though they may be. Although you'd think that in Calif it wouldn't be a big deal...

Unfortunately, private schools can do that. It's probably the best thing that could have happened to her.
