W4 and NYS tax form question

I have to fill them out again for my job... does filing 1 or 0 give your more money back in your tax return??

however, if you & your DH have to file joint tax returns (for immigration purposes we do) does he have to claim me as a dependent? I don't think I claim him.

I had to fill out W4 forms today too. I didn't know what to do. I claimed 1 for myself and 1 for something else and came out with a 2. I remember putting 2 before I was married too. The one thing I did not know what to check was the single, married, or married with single box. I checked married with single, but think I should have checked just single. DH and I are keeping everything seperate . Anyone have a clue what I should have put for that one?
