Wagner Power Roller
Just in case anybody has thought of buying one of these, I thought I'd give you a review since I just used mine yesterday for the first time.
Ok, first of all, Wagner claims that you can paint a room with this thing in 10 minutes. HA!!!! Maybe a 9'x9' room that has no furniture in it, but even then you're pushing it.
But, it WILL save you time over using a regular roller. There's no bending down and rolling the roller in paint - the Wagner roller is attached to a 16 foot hose that has paint pumped through it by the pump that you sit the paint can on top of. You can adjust the speed of the paint coming through the roller, and there's a touch button on the handle that turns the pump on and off. It comes with a trim tool and a corner tool too.
So, the good part is that you don't have to deal with the paint pan. The bad part is, well, there are a bunch of bad parts!
1) You have to be careful not to let the hose hit the wall when you're rolling. If you do, it'll get wet paint on it and then wet paint gets on you. Plus, you'll leave a smudge mark on the wall.
2) The roller isn't exactly easy on the wrists. I feel like I have carpal tunnel today. The thing is a little heavy for me.
3) When you change attachments, like you want to take off the roller and put the trimmer on, you have to be careful not to fling/drip paint everywhere. I got paint on my carpet
.
4) Cleanup is a BIATCH. It takes forever to get paint off all the parts. And I think next time to save time I'll just throw the roller pad out and buy a new one instead of trying to clean it.
5) There's only one size roller, so if you have to paint a small area, you need to still use a regular small roller or paint brush.
To sum up:
Do I think the Wagner Power Roller is worth the $110 that I paid for it?
Maybe. Now that I've figured out how to use it, I guess the next time won't be so bad. The room that I painted had a lot of corners and angles, so I'm hoping that my kitchen (next project) will be easier!
