Re: waht to tell vendors that you are not booking
It's perfectly fine to tell them thank you for the follow up but we've decided to book with someone else. I'm sure it's not the first time (or last) it'll happen to them
I just read the rest of this, don't bother calling them back. If they call you again then it would be an appropriate time to say what I said above

I wouldn't call back but if they do call back I would just tell them that FH & I decided to go with someone else.

I agree. Don't call them back, because then it sounds like, 'Nyah nyah, I'm just calling to tell you that we gave our money to someone better.' But if they call again, there's nothing wrong with telling them you've booked somewhere else - the majority of people who go look there probably look at 10 places and statistically end up booking somewhere else eventually; it won't hurt their feelings.

Re: waht to tell vendors that you are not booking
I don't know I was torn on the same thing but out of courtesy (and also not wanting annoying calls from vendors) I was straight up and called them back to let them know.. most of the vendors are used to people telling them 'sorry' so to me it wasn't a big deal telling them. Also most of the vendors I met I had a good experience with and they were very courteous and helpful. I think if I had a bad experience I'd feel a bit diffrent about calling them back...lol

I dont think you should call them back, wait for them to call you again (bec you know these vendors will call you like 100 times) and then tell them sorry we've found a place. How is the Woodbury CC anyways, my friend is going to take a look at that place this weekend

Re: waht to tell vendors that you are not booking
I had that happen to me this past weekend...A photographer I had seen at a bridal show called me and I didn't recognize the number. I had set up an appointment back in october-november but had to cancel it bc of FH's softball schedule, then i saw angelicas work and decided to wait for whenever she books for 08...Well guess they realized i never scheduled another appointment so they called to ask me when I would like to book another appointment...IT was awkward for a moment, but I just said thank you for calling me but I already booked another photographer sorry. They were nice about it, i am sure they're used to it. Just be honest.

If the vendor was a referral from someone you or they know, then I would definitley call them back. But Franklin Sq. Photo called me like 2 times and I didn't call them back...

Re: waht to tell vendors that you are not booking
I met with a photographer that was great....we would have booked him, but I met with Velvet, and we decided to go with him instead! He knew I had the appt. with velvet, and I told him I would call him with the decision by that weekend. He called, and left a message, and I e mailed him and told him, sorry, but we decided to go with someone else. I felt really bad...and my FH told me I was cowardly for not calling him...but it is awkward...

I don't think it's a big deal if you don't call them back, but if they do call again, I would talk to them and tell them that you've decided to book with someone else

Yeah, they did that to me too! I don't know how many times they called, but we kept missing them... Finally we were home one day when they called, my mom answered and they asked if we were still interested, and when my mom said no that we booked elsewhere they wanted to know where and why! My mom just said we loved Westbury Manor, and then the lady proceded to ask if it was because they had a better price! I thought that really wasn't her place to be asking all of these questions...
i told the meadow club, sunset harbour and smithtown landing that i was booking else where they didnt seem bitter actually they said if i change my mind they would be more than happy to serve me. they were really cool
