Would it be strange for me to walk down the isle by myself? My father is still alive and married to my mother... just don't feel comfortable with someone 'giving me away'

Nothing wrong at all with coming down the aisle by yourself. Its a very emotional and symbolic thing and you should feel that its reflects you rather than doing it purely because of tradition.

def do what feels right to you sweetie!! I see NOTHING wrong with that!!
To be honest with you, god forbid anything ever happened to my dad, but if there did, there's no one else who could replace him at my side on that day....

You should absolutely do what you want...but how would your dad feel about this?

Re: Walking down the isle
Just my opinion, but I had both of my parents walk down the aisle (a Jewish tradition, but I love it), and that way, it was a way of honoring them both as my parents, and not a 'giving me away' thing. It was so nice to walk down with them on either side of me!!!

Re: Walking down the isle
I definitely don't want both of my parents to walk me down the isle... I've been having a tremendous amount of difficulties with my parents and haven't talked with either one of them for quite some time.
I would have considered having the both walk me down the isle if I had received any sort of emotional support... but unfortunately I haven't had any...

Then you should absolutely do what makes you feel comfortable. I think walking down the aisle alone is a profound statement of your independence and strength.
You can also have your FH meet you half way, have you thought of that?
