Wallpaper removal....

Has anyone ever paid anyone to come in and just take it all down for you? My DH and I are thinking of just paying a crew to come in and take all the paper down in your LR and DR, and then primer, we would just then need to paint.

If anyone has done this, would they recommend it? And would they recommend the company that did it?

TIA!!

I wish we did this. Its not really hard, its just so tedious. Good for you if you can do this. I would think it is probably pricey.

Re: Wallpaper removal....

we just removed some wallpaper in the kitchen - what we thought would take 1 day wound up taking 3. the wallpaper came off easy, what was hard was prepping the walls for paint because the remaining glue was stuck to an oil base paint underneath so we had to scrape everything.

i've been told with wallpaper one never knows what is underneath so it can be really easy to really difficult depending on the base. i would think it would be pricey as well to have someone do it, but i have no idea.

Yeah, we did the kitchen ourselves, took a week!! Really don't feel like going through it again with 2 very large rooms (plus the paper goes up the stairs and through the hallway on the 2nd floor). Why oh why do people put wallpaper up????

We know it will probably cost a bundle, but it might be worth it in the end if we can find someone reliable...

I have a friend who just bought a co-op in Whitestone who is having the wallpaper removed by someone...they almost destroyed a wall trying to remove it themselves.
