If anyone is looking to go to the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area Spirit Airlines is now flying in and out of Islip and they have fares for $8.00 each way!! I just booked a ticket for me roundtrip including taxes for $37.00 in May!!!!!

Nope, there is no catch. You dont have to stay at any hotel. All you do is join the $9 fare club. Its $9 nucks for a trial membership (3 months) and then like $30 for the year if you want to keep it. I joined the other day and today got an email with all these awesome flgiht deals. I happen to live in Fort Lauderdale and I am planning a LI Wedding, so needless to say, these $8.00 flights are really coming in handy for me!!

The catch with Spirit is that you have to pay to check luggage and you have to pay for all snacks and drinks (even water). All you really get is a seat on a plane, but for the price you can't expect a whole lot. At $9 you're still saving lots of $, but I'm personally not a fan of the airline.

Sounds great...but to be honest...I will never fly spirit again. They are awful and I had a nighmarish problem with them....where I pretty much lost my entire ticket. Had to book with another airline the same day and pay $700 for a new ticket! I wrote a mean letter though and got them to give me a credit but wont use them anymore. Just beware and be very early for flight.
(Long story....I was running late for my flight but wasnt checking luggage....still had 40 minutes till flight left but lost my boarding pass and they would let me through and wouldnt give me a new boarding pass....I had to forfeit my ticket....ridic! I was crying to them and begging to please print a new boarding pass and nothing. They said sorry but no can do! ***! It was awful and broke my wallet to get where I was going....to a family renuion!)

I've never heard of Spirit Airlines. I don;t think I would EVER fly them just for that reason. I'd prefer to pay more for a good reputable airline.

Those are good rates if you are flying on odd weekends or weeks. We are going to Florida during the April school vacation and are paying $250 a ticket on Spirit...sooo same exact flight plan, same amount of fuel but they charge over $200 extra just because they can....I can't stand ANY airlines!
BTW I paid $500 a flight last year for that same week so I guess $250 isn't bad!

flew on them once... from ny to ft lauderdale... and halfway through an announcement came on that we had to stop in myrtle beach to pick up stranded passengers.... im like who the hell does that??! and then to top it off, these pax were lookin to sit in the same seats they had on the other plane! nerve i swear!!

For $37 bucks roundtrip, I'd fly a freekin Greyhound if it could leave the ground!! hahahaha
I cant be picky because I have to fly to New York for every little thing, dress fittings, limo, DJ, cake, bagels, pizza, good chinese food!! Haha, the last 3 were just luxuries!!
