This is my bird's latest phrase! I have no idea where he got it (probably TV). He's been saying it all morning in between mimicking that Law and Order sound when...dun-dun. I wish there was a way to post a sound clip, it's hysterical!
My uncle has an African Gray. It is the most amazing animal! He started doing the direct connect sound for Nextel and now my uncle brings him to the Nextel headquarters for when they have big meetings.

Re: 'Wanna Play Scrabble?'
DH and I were at an outdoor concert last summer and kept hearing that Nextel noise. We finally realized that it was coming from an African grey parrot that some guy had brought with him! I want one!!!!!

And I thought Kathy was inviting us to a match. How I love that game!
Your parrot sounds amazing. Do they make a huge mess in the house? Do you get them at a bird store or from somewhere else? They are expensive, right?

Re: 'Wanna Play Scrabble?'
We have a friend who my DH has known for 20 years, she's been breeding these birds just as long. We got our bird from her, saw him as just an egg with his other siblings...she called us when they hatched...we chose our bird because he hatched on my birthday (the other siblings hatched one day earlier and one day later). We took him home quite early and fed him the bird formula like a mother bird would do...it was amazing!
I think retail they cost around $1500.
They are a lifelong commitment, my DH has a client with an African Grey who is 43 years old!
Yes, they can be messy, but I just stay on top of it.
