Actually we gave her the present - we've given her a home so she doesn't have to live in the shelter any more (she'd been there 6 months!). Her name is Madison and she's our newest family member.
Very cute Moira she kind of looks like my Xena- same coloring!!
What did you name her?

Re: Want to see one of my Xmas presents?
Hi Jamie! How are you feeling? We named her Madison (I call her Maddy). My husband still calls her kitty, I think that's his name for her.
She's a slightly special needs cat we just learned today (she only has 2 teeth so we need to crumble her dry food and make sure she has enough soft food, plus we have to care for the teeth she has left). We have a vet appointment coming up so we'll learn more then. Have you ever encountered such a thing?
She's 6 years old, so we don't know what her life was like before. She came into the shelter from a rescue center, so they don't know if she was found like that or if the rescue center removed her teeth due to infection or damage.

Re: Want to see one of my Xmas presents?
I'd take another one if I could, but Madison was traumatized by other cats at the shelter and hates them (for now). We're going to ease her into meeting the other cats in the building in a few months, but until then she needs to adjust to her new home without any further stress. I would never give my cat away, I don't know how people do it.
Jamie-why her lungs particularly? I'm going to make sure she's checked thoroughly for everything. We want to make sure she gets the best care possible - I'm such a mom!

Because sometimes it's necessary for the kitty to leave to have a better life. I hated giving up my kitty when I lived in VA, but it was that or dragging the cat across country to a place that didnt allow cats.
I feel bad for anyone who has to give up a kitty. It's even harder when they know they don't want the kitty to go to a shelter.
Congrats on the newest member of your family. We expect tons of photos.

Awwww....Congrats! I have such a soft spot for kitties! My 'Buddy' was a stray who was abandoned by his mom and my Dad rescued him for me (5 years ago).....now I want to bring home ALL the homeless kittens!

Re: Want to see one of my Xmas presents?
We got her at the ASPCA on 92nd. She was there 6 months even though everyone who came in liked her (2 other couples there liked her but passed her over). She wouldn't come down off the top ledges of the cat room to meet people and she scratched if you tried to pick her up so people passed her by.
After hours of playing with cats we still liked her even though she wouldn't come down. We finally asked if they'd put her in a private room with us to see how she reacted.
Once she was away from other cats she was so sweet. She's just afraid of other kitties.
