Liquor stores have sturdy boxes too - a bit on the small side, but good for books, pots and pans, etc.
You can also purchase some good boxes at U-haul for dishes and glasswear - a bit pricy, but they have compartments that help protect, and I kept mine to store my MIL's china that she gave me (don't have room in the cupboards)

Just be careful with boxes you get, especially from supermarkets - roaches LOVE cardboard. Maybe a store like Staples...I know you can buy them there but surely they get big shipments of supplies in good sized boxes.
Do you know anyone who works in a hospital? My SIL is an OR nurse and for every operation they get a big box that has the disposable supplies for that operation. They just throw them out after. She got me a ton of boxes and they are great-easy fold and unfold.

how about the boxes in your office that holds paper reams. That is what I always use.
I would avoid the supermarket one because of the roaches
