I mailed a final payment to a vendor and I could swear I wrote the check out for the correct amount, but they are telling me that I wrote it out for some odd amount a few hundred dollars less than what it should be!

You should really check your account statement. Did the vendor cash it yet? If so, you can actually check what you made it out for online....theyll show you a pic of the check. At Least this is what Bank of America does.
