WARNING!!!!- WEDDING GROUP ONE

I am sooo disapointed. I went to Wedding Group One, and loved their stuff. The pics in one album caught my eye. Joanne said 'Bob' was the photographer. When I asked to see more of his work, she gave us a huge box of proofs to look at, all from one wedding, all from Bob, they candid stuff was good, but the posed stuff was not. She said that I could use Bob for candid, and get a second photographer for posed. We said we had to think about it, but all in all, I was happy, I thought that I had made my choice (after seeing 5 other photographers). We still had an appointment with Mark Kaufmann to go to so we said we`d call to make another appointment. Well, Mark Kaufmann is way more expensive (but worth it). I was torn, so I went that night to the weddingchannel.com message boards to get some more opinions, and what do you know? The bride whose proofs I had looked at had them posted, she had said that she used Wedding Group one and 'Don and Judy' were her photographers. Not only was I lied to by Joanne about who took the pics she showed me, I was also lied to about how many photographers took them, and she tried to swindel me into booking a 2nd photographer. I guess that they just show you their best stuff and represent it as being the work of whoever is available the day of your wedding. I am very disappointed. Their prices were reasonable, and the work is good, but I will not do business with a company who knowingly mislead me. I have so much planning to do, and we are spending alot of money on this wedding, and I do not want to be lied to. If I can`t trust a vendor, I certainly am not going to hand over thousands of dollars to them, and chance something as important as my wedding pictures.

WARNING!!!!- WEDDING GROUP ONE

Please post this message on weddingchannel.com WGO has gotten a ton of good recs from the brides there so I think its important that your story get out. I also saw their work and thought that they weren't being totally upfront but since it was just a gut feeling I don't have much to say.

Just a suggestion for you -

I saw about 10 different photographers when planning my wedding - I didn't like the big ones that had a lot of photographers b/c of that very reason. Plus, I think that you can book who you want and wind up with someone else tht day. I chose Fine Art (they have only 4 photographers) I got to see all of their work - this way I would be happy no matter who I had that day. I got very lucky and had the owner Jimmy who I think is the best - and my pictures are some of the best I have ever seen. They look like the pictures you see on the walls and magazines - and I can't begin to tell you the service I have received after the wedding - they spent over 41/2 hours picking out the pictures for our album - and now they want us to come in for a viewing (and bring all my proofs again) just in case I don't like any of the pictures that are in the album (they will re-do) a lot of places you just pick out the pictures for your album give them in - and they pick up your album - I am able to go and change anything I want - they blew up an 11/14 and I didn't love the way it came out - they said no problem pick another one - I could go on and on about all little things like that - I made a great choice! Good Luck with who ever you choose - picking the photographer was one of the hardest deccisions we thought - it took up a long time to pick - we had it down to Creative Compositions and Fine Art -

I agree about not doing business with them

If a vendor lies to you you should run the other way. There are too many qualified honest vendors in our area to deal with that type of stuff. I booked Mark Kauffman and he has been great to work. Thank you so much for warning the other brides.

I also stayed away from the big photography studios- I prefer talking directly with the photographer. I choose VIP in Port Jefferson- There`s only one photographer there-he works with another photojournalist who is also included in all packages. His prices are very reasonable. I saw several more expensive photographers including Mark Kauffman and I thought his work was just as good if not better.
